His speech thanking his 2 wives was great, and especially when the camera panned to their table and showed them hugging each other. He actually sounds like a beautiful guy.

One of the very few players I’ve seen re-invent themselves from a flashy outside flanker to a tough, hard inside midfielder- all in the space of his debut season in 1979.

It’s probably already mentioned - but the only player to play in the 1979, 1981, 1982 & 1987 Premiership sides.

One of my all time favourite players.

Peter Jones and David McKay have pretty good cases for Hall of Fame status I would have thought.

Wonderful video with Parko on #7 on the CFC website. Quality work.

I wasn't watching this show. Turned it on for some reason and Whately did the intro to Parko.
My all time favourite player.
Tragedy he had to wait this long. The reasons are crap too.
His life post footy has been a trial. Great to see him smiling again.

Neitz
Have to share the load I guess.

Old enough to remember the pure joy of watching him and the boys have the Heatley stand rocking with a 3rd quarter premiership burst that either wiped out a deficit or turned a 3 goal lead into a 10 goal thumping.
He was silky smooth and tough as nails. Those raking goals on the run from 50m out. And his toughness. I’m pretty sure that his career was ended by an Ablett bump. One that Ablett thought was one of the hardest he’d ever given - only to watch as Johnno got up and limped away. And boy didn’t he relish playing against the pies!

That's what the AFL, the Vic and Fed governments have given Geelong.
They only have to win a few away games to finish in the top eight.

A bit off topic - and I know the game is a lot different now - but I just wonder whether our current players have actually seen finals replays of our team of the late 70's & 80's 90's. You can't help but grow in stature and confidence just watching the great teams amd players go about winning.
Once a month they should all get together in the theatre and suck in the winning culture of our great finals wins. It simply MUST have a positive effect on their mindset

Of course we are all missing the real reason Johnno deserves Hall of Fame status.

Fixing up Clarkson after his cowards punch

We all know how tough and determined he was on the field but I've forgotten how exceptional his release time was
We had a huge amount of great players in that period.
Parko is right the late 80' early 90's teams should be mentioned as one of the greatest teams of all time.
I think that period along with the Hawks in the mid 80's early 90's and Brisbanes late 90's early 00's are unsurpassed in assembling the most skillful and toughest individuals in each particular teams.

Parko's words about the Dominator were brilliant

Like many others, he was my favourite Carlton player of all time

He had many great attributes but his toughness at the ball stood out for me

Not sure why it took so long for him to be duly recognised by the AFL

Well done the great Dominator
