Have to disagree that we have to play O'Shea because of injuries, could still easily play others ahead of him that would be better despite the injuries.
Bringing Jack Silvagni in to play that med def role would immediately make us a better team.

Jack has played 99% of his senior footy as a forward and is currently swinging between forward and mid in the VFL. So replacing O'Shea with Jack isn't reasonable.

The previous poster was on the money. He's a depth player. Good VFL soldier. But due to injury we have to play him.

I don’t mind Jack as a defender, but would play Plowmans role.

O’Shea may have played a good game, but how many poor games?

Jack spent time at half back in his U/18 year and did it well, how is not reasonable lol? He would be hard pressed to play worse than O'Shea

Having anyone replace OShea is a step forward he is dreadful

Positives

Much better than lamentable performance last week

Ed Kreuz Cripps and Simmo good

Another game Kerr obrien dow

Fisher and Charlie are going to be very good

H down on previous performances but needs plenty of senior footy

Weiters and SPS better tonight
Geelong are pretty crap and won't win the premiership
Negatives

Shots for goal
Disposal sloppy
Playing at that crap ground instead of the G or Etihad

Hawkins continually whinging for free kicks

Foxtel telecast with Mooney and Dwayne didn't know Carlton were playing
Ridiculous fascination with Ablett who is just going

Whipping boys did pretty well tonight. We set up the defence , as a defence, as the priority. Worked well.
A few changes at selection and a bit of luck on the injury front and we could have won that game pretty easy. But it's all about development.

O'Brien isn't anywhere near ready, might end up a player but right now he is a mile off it .

Team reacted reasonably quickly to the dangerous start. Casboult sorely missed.

Loved our contested work around the ground.

Much better defensive setup, big tick to the coaches for this week.

Another step forward for Dow. Good to see SPS and Weitering do well too.

Cripps is a gun. Fisher is fast becoming one.

More good senior experience for LOB, Kerr, McKay, Cuningham.

Plowman was very good.

Pros:

Cripps, Ed and Simmo.
Jones and Plowman.
Well done SOS. Dow is going to be a star. He's doing incredible things as a 1st year inside midfielder in a weak midfield. Looking forward to when he develops the poise to hit the target more.
Lang looks like a good player to me. Although I thought he was a bit conservative with his ball use.
Nice to see Weitering back in the side, and looking like he wanted to be out there.
Nice goal from Kerr.
Charlie and SPS competed really well (but had 'almost' games).
Thought O'Shea was okay again. But I can't wait till we have more skilful kicks taking those kicks into forward 50.

Cons:

Not quite sure how we can have 3 tall forwards, and still allow a marking defender to be best man on the ground.
Forward entries, lack of a dynamic small/medium goalkicker, and inaccuracy.
Arsey Geelong goals.
I wish someone would 'poke' Dwayne. Listening to him commentate a Geelong home game is like listening to 3KZ in the old days.
Geelong were permitted a lot of 5-10 metre kicks.
Harry didn't enjoy the conditions. And didn't compete hard enough in marking contests.
Cuningham just doesn't find enough ball. But I think we've just got persevere with him, because he's got some incredible AFL traits. At least he's willing to tackle.

Yes that way, not sure if it’s Geelong or Torquay or something but went to Geelong Grammar and played Falcons U/18’s.

Rumours were they were putting a war chest together to put in front of Charlie.

Whoosh.
This is your fault agro.
(Sorry hibbo..if you watch the replay you will get the irony)

3 of their goals directly from Same Rowe moments.
2 time he should ve punched the ball through for a point on the last line of defence, but instead allowed Hawkins to mark on the goal line. And another time he gave away a silly holding free, which Hawkins goaled from.
In a game where goals were few and far between, these were massive stuff ups by a senior player, and that's in a nutshell, why he frustrates fans so much.

Gerard Whately’s sphincter would’ve been pretty squeaky in that last quarter though, at the prospect of a Blues win. He won’t take back all the rubbish he spoke about us all last week, but our performance, particularly from the kids, is satisfying enough

Yes. He and all Cats fans know what happened. Cats were still shite. We missd tons of shots. They barely escaped a major humiliation.

Expecting him to step into an AFL side a play a position he hasn't played since 2015 four seasons ago isn't a reasonable expectation. We all want better than O'Shea but Jack isn't the short term solution. I don't mind jack playing that spot long term however.

Cripps is getting smashed and bashed every week, we desperately need to recruit a genuine hard and violent player to knock out and run through a few of the blokes hanging off him.
They have to be made to think twice and have some fear, a Byron Pickett type would be perfect... start him 15 meters off a stoppage and get him to hit the player at a hundred miles an hour.

O'Brien needs a spell he is nowhere near ready, they are not looking after him by playing him in the seniors atm, and whoever the f### keeps thinking it's a good idea to play O'Shea needs to piss off from ever selecting a side ever again.

I am concerned that Patrick is going to be buggered in a few years, he is subjecting himself to so much punishment, and performing remarkably right now, just a beast! But that if that continues, he is going to get injured and worn down before his time

plowman, weiters and sps were really good. hopefully that becomes their baseline as of now.

hate to be a broken record ... but there's too much a sample size here now to avoid. murphy needs to be put out to the leadership pasture and cripps' time is now. when murhphy is captain, the team follows him - into softness and unaccountability; when cripps is captain, they follow him and play with accountability and an edge.

Given our totally defensive tactics I thought Charlie Harry and Kerr did as well as could be expected. All 3 will be hard to handle when our tactics change.

Fantastic to hear Complete Dairy being mentioned in both of the post-match interviews.

A truly ethical company which delivers a highly nutritious and essential product for our players.

And let's face it, without Complete Dairy, we wouldn't have the post-match interviews in the first place.

Well done Complete Dairy for your work, and well done CFC for not only taking them on board as a sponsor, but also for going to the trouble of weaving them into the interviews.

I cant stand Whately now.
One of the best foxtel commentators is Jason Dunstall, he has a good footy brain.
