He was selected last week to fill an inside role whilst Ed was out suspended.
We got killed on the inside (other than Cripps)
Graham got a lot of his cheap possessions on the outside.
He wasn't that effective.

There's more to it than the number of disposals.

Yes he's vanilla but he had 2 goal assists (Carlton kicked 7 goals), had 15 contested possessions out of 28 (2nd most in the team) and 5 clearances (2nd most in the team).

436 m gained most by a Carlton player by a far way

Anything else you want

But the message to him now is "that isn't good enough to hold you place in the team".
It concerns me that we might have a potentially reasonable football there that we ruin by regularly undermining his confidence.
I hope they've spent a lot of time with him explaining what else it is that he needs to do to hold his place.

Agree Effes after Cripps was really our second best player for the day - how do those numbers stack up against OSheas 4 free kicks in the Melbourne forward 50 and innumerable fumbles and crap disposals

We are dying for midfielders -graham gets dropped -we add one midfielder for murphy and another tall defender in weitering and OShea stays unbelievable :screwy:

Simon White must have passed those photos he had on the coach and match committee to OShea :banghead:

It's pretty clear that wins are secondary.

Well done to Graham.

I would never have the skill to play AFL but i'm convinced I wouldn't have the temperament to endure (whether you think it's fair or not) his selection history.

It goes back to the start of his career, the sub-vest period and now having to be first guy bounced out while he watches kids who barely get a sniff get played ahead of him week in week out.

I don't remember anyone getting his stats and getting dropped ever. It might be whats best for the club but it would be tough to take.

The coaches have the data on who our midfielders are matched against. Melbourne's mids killed ours for scoring and setting up goals. I don't recall how many of their goals came from stoppages but it was a significant amount. Graham hasn't had problems finding the ball but he struggles to have accountability going the other way.
I'd suggest that data contains the information on why he's playing VFL.
Bolts isn't going to drop a player who is pulling his weight when he's crying out for midfield depth.

That is simply a load of shit
I can’t recall the second best player
On the day where a team loses by
Over 16 goals getting dropped

I rate Graham
Certainly more than OShea
And a few others

Hope he gets a fair go somewhere else
Next year because after his demotion
It’s clear Bolton doesn’t rate him

Wouldn’t be the first time a player didn’t
Get a fair crack at it and left Carlton
For greener pastures
Jacobs comes to mind

Carlton players will be wearing black armbands tomorrow night.

Look I am not a big fan of Nick Graham.

However I think the decision to drop him was a bad one and sends the wrong message to the playing group.

IMO we are going in too tall.

Perhaps a disposal efficiency of 57% went against him.

Gee, a journo worked out that we are going in tall at Bolton's presser today....

That's a REALLY BAD Sign.... Typically things have to be jumping up and down on their heads before they notice.

Go Blues

That's a terrible thing to say keogh.
I understand what BV says, and it may in fact be valid.

OShea and Graham play different positions.

Jacobs was 4th banana. Ofcourse he was excess to our needs.
Who knew he would surpass Kreuzer Hampson and Warnock?
I wanted to keep him, but we could only play 2 rucks, whilst Collingwood used only 1.

I think the reason Graham was kept on the list (to everyone's surprise) was as a depth player.
Did you rate him last year? Did you ever suggest he's a candidate for delisting?

You can rate anyone you like, and that doesn't make the MC wrong.
They are privy to much more than you.

SPS got a few clearances too, and plenty of possessions for a 56 metre gain.
Spotlight should be on him too imo, but I'll leave that to the coaches.
There must be valid reasons. That's what we have to try and work out.

People I was at the footy with kept seeing Graham's numbers increasing on the App.
Without looking at the numbers, none of us barely noticed him.

I watched his opponent in the middle run past him umteen times and forge ahead..usually involved with a scoring opportunity.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Charlie in the middle & Weitering playing the Docherty role.

Forget Graham ... When is Callan Beasy going to get a run? I'm sick of us playing Merrington.

Second best player?
You wouldn't know your arse from your elbow. Bolton isn't going to drop the bloke for fun. His opponents torched him. Have a look at the game in it's entirety.

Second Best player after Cripps
Who do you reckon was the second best player
Graham may not be quick
He may not be big
But he was better than 20 other players
Last week
That’s for sure

Who were his direct opponents mister
Know it all

Are you as critical on guys like Murphy
Who hasn’t laid a decent tackle in the last
3 years
Just like Bolton you have your favorites
Bottom line
Graham will never be in the team of the
Century but on the basis of last weeks
Game
No dickens brainer he should have not been dropped

Who needs a coach Keogh. You can pick the team for CFC based on the stats in the Herald Sun and Supercoach rankings!
Are you really stupid enough to think Bolton will drop players for no reason? Do you not think he needs a win as much as anyone?
Nick Graham was given the opportunity to shop himself around the past 2 off seasons. No takers.
Have you considered why?

Nick Graham is not a very good player

Neither is Cam O'Shea

Yet O'Shea is getting continuity even when we appear to be at least carrying 1 tall too many and short on midfield rotations.

As average as he is Graham was far from our worst last week.

For a fantastically talented player, Dangerfield is a self-important knob. I wonder who he'll accidentally injure this time? And I wonder how many times he'll be rewarded for throwing himself forward?

Hope we win. If not, hope we're competitive, and we don't let Dangerfield dominate.
