What is this thing with Plowman?? He is solid and a first up pick every time...he does his job. what more can you ask?
I also struggle to see why so many posters claim Plowman is no good.
He's solid and does what's being asked of him.
There are times where he does make a mistake, but every player does.
He does his job, closes down his opponent and organises the backline.
Last game he did let a goal go through. He's done well this year with goals against.
I think that posters acknowledge we go too tall at times and try to make room for the return of Marchbank, Weitering this week and ASOS when he returns to fitness and the dart seems to fall on Plowman.
The incredible thing I find is that when we were being dominated in the midfield (over the last couple of years of the rebuild) and our defence was hit with a barrage of repeat ball entry, Rowe was always said to be the problem (prior to his knee), for his mistakes, clangers, misses, panic attacks and lack of class. Rowe gets injured and then is replaced by whipping boy Jones who becomes flavour of the month. This year Jones struggles without the strength of ASOS or Rowe next to him, and when Rowe returns (without ASOS) Rowe becomes our saviour, and Plowman seems to become excess to our needs for some.
In other words we are blessed/ overloaded with Tall defenders and can't fit them all in. A good problem to have.
Rowe and ASOS will retire, probably at years end. Jones may get dropped if Rowe and ASOS aren't there taking the No 1 KPF, and will retire much much earlier than Weitering, Marchbank and Plowman.
The latter 3 are still young and developing and our future. They are tall, and mobile. Plowman is a 3rd tall. Maybe its only one of Rowe, Jones and ASOS who is selected, but that still gives us 4 talls in defence.
Do we continue to back youth and the future over the older boys?
