However after meeting on Wednesday AFL football operations manager Steve Hocking decided to use his power to appeal the decision.
He said in a statement the AFL had appealed the financial sanctions on the grounds that no tribunal acting reasonably could have come to that decision having regard to the evidence before it and the sanction imposed was manifestly inadequate.

If the Gooch has any heart he’ll be on the front foot saying that should the two be suspended following the trial by media that any organisation aligned with either Whiteley or Sobbo will lose all access to Carlton related staff and activities

As much as I hate Essendon** I hope no players sledged Baguley about the birth mark on his face.
I have a friend who has one on her face and I know what she had to put up with over many years.

And the tribunal had to decide, on the balance of probabilities, if the Curnows intentionally made contact with the umpire. Something that wasn’t required in the Hawkins case given he pled guilty that he had intentionally initiated contact with the umpire. Appeal away Gerard. Btw. Wheatley is a Geelong supporter. He is pleading with former Geelong player Hocking to appeal. A week after Geelong player Hawkins was suspended. Charlie played for the Geelong Falcons.
