Plenty of rain headed our way between Wednesday night and Saturday by the looks of it. Could be played in similar conditions to last years win.

Id brung Lang in for Graham.
Even a 75% fit Lang would offer a whole lot more than Graham.

If it’s a slow, wet track I’d prefer Graham to Lang this week.

As much as I despise having two rucks in the team, I hope we keep Phillips in this week. McKay is too valuable to throw into the Casboult battering ram role, he also gets injured a bit. Keep Phillips until Casboult comes back and let McKay stay as a permanent forward.

I note that they're talking about resting Daniher.

a) I don't believe any of that for a second - he'll play, (if they were it'd be kept secret until the last moment).
b) Even if he did have issues I'm sure they'd be able to find some gear to make him feel good again.

Better idea than that. Jones goes forward and plays the 2nd ruck role, something he did so well in the VFL last year before his promotion. Weitering, who'll certainly be back this week, and Jones play similar roles so it's a chance to move Jones out of defence. 2 rucks means an unnecessary loss of a running type. Unnecessary.

Joe looked fine when I saw him at the pub on Sunday afternoon.

Oh you mean the GF they won breaching the salary cap?

As in the Storm winning GFs, breaching the salary cap and having their wins taken away from them. That type of win?

He is probably on 3 strikes.

I saw him at the Napier pretty pissed and then two weeks later at Meredith clowning around at 3 in the morning. To his credit he was drinking water at the time.

Daniher injury update

BTV: SKINS Injury Update - May 8 With Physical Performance Manager, Justin Crow.

Essendon* forward Joe Daniher is set for at least four weeks on the sidelines after scans revealed early onset of osteitis pubis.

Daniher went for the scans on Monday after pulling up sore from the Bombers’ loss to Hawthorn on Saturday, but the issue has been ongoing according to Physical Performance Manager Justin Crow.

“Going right back at the very end of last season Joe had some groin pain,” Crow said on the SKINS Injury Update on Tuesday.

“We gave him some time off and rest for the off-season then a strengthening program and a progressive rehabilitation and build up throughout the pre-season to the point where he was up and playing games at the start of the year.

“Unfortunately on the back of a compression incident against Fremantle (in round two) the condition has raised its head again.”

Crow said while Daniher has been able to take the field in the opening seven rounds of the season, the soreness has been holding the star forward back from full training.

“We’ve been monitoring it closely since then, managing Joe’s training workloads in conjunction with him and getting him to the point where he’s been able to play games.

“But in that sense it has been affecting his ability to complete all of his training.”

Daniher had a further setback against the Hawks, sending the club on a mission to find out the root cause of his soreness.

“In the second half against Hawthorn Joe felt heavy in his groins and that prompted us to follow up with a scan to see how his condition was progressing,” Crow said.

“It showed some signal in his pubis indicating early onset of osteitis pubis.”

Crow said the best option for the high-flying forward is to embark on a full and patient rehabilitation.

“With Joe’s long-term health and career being our biggest priority, in conjunction with Joe, we’ve made the decision to take him out of the program and give him a full rehabilitation to make sure that gets better.

“That will be a minimum of four weeks (on the sidelines), but we’ll be taking as long as required to make sure that Joe is fully recovered and available to play at his best.”

I sniff an Essendon* tanking strategy and rebuild on the cards.

IN: Murphy, Curnow, Marchbank, Shaw, Polson
OUT: Casboult (inj), Mullett, O'Shea, Phillips, Plowman

B: Simpson - Rowe - Weitering
HB: Thomas - Marchbank - O'Brien
C: Fisher - Cripps - SPS
HF: Garlett - C. Curnow - Dow
F: Wright - McKay - Murphy

R: Kreuzer - E. Curnow - Graham

INT: Kennedy - Jones - Shaw - Polson

Murphy plays forward. Mullett and O'Shea have had a run. We know what they offer. Give Shaw a go.
Jones to play as the utility tall - forward, relief ruck, back only if needed. Essendon* also play only the one ruck, so his opponent won't be a proper second-ruck.
