IIRC, he played on a bloke who was 6th in the AFL for goals scored this season, 3rd for contested marks and 3rd for marks inside 50. He kept him to 1 contested mark, 1 inside 50 mark and zero goals.
He's actually defended very well this year. Conceded very few goals.

Yes he makes frustrating mistakes but he's probably our best "defensive" backman.

What he said!

Get off Plows back he's a 250 game and will be a brilliant clubman.

Understand backmen are in vulnerable positions and mistakes are amplified but he's into his 6th year - needs to tidy up on the mistakes.

I agree. He frustrates me sometimes but he performs a role. While the other backs are running off and creating, he guards the defence well, is courageous and always performs a difficult role.
He has time on his side and if he can tidy up those couple of errors per game, he'll be an outstanding player for us.

Cripps got 10 coaches votes, as he should have.

Another shiny tooth on a darkened dial has been Daisy's performance after personal stuff had his wheels spinning. Daisy has stepped up in games after years of false dawns. Murph was always our captain because of the fragility of his ego not because he was a great leader. Doch is still ahead of Crippa for captaincy but that gap closes each week. Lachie Plowman will be cemented into a rock solid backline alongside Caleb. To start hacking at him this week, with so many teammates out, is ridiculous. Sammo may need a spell but Paddy the younger is showing serious flair, expect a rising star nom. soon. We watch games with pain and uncertainty but each piece is slowly molding into a teak dining table off which we true blues will feast

Plow reminds me sometimes of a young Peter Dean.

Deany used to make some awful errors but boy oh boy did he turn out ok.

Not too many defenders when young don't make mistakes.

It's part of learning the caper.

There is a reason why Plow is in our leadership group at a young age.

He dropped that mark I know but it's what he did afterwards that showed his importance as a player.

He didn't drop his head he flower chased hard.

That's whats important to me.

there was also an example of that by one of the younger kids. SPP. stinker of a kick, but busted his arse to get to the first bloke, then when he handballed it to another, he lept chasing ...

thats is what matters. not the mistake, but the effort after the mistake.

Peter Dean was selected to play for Victoria in his third season, before he’d played 50 games.

What Plowman did after he dropped that mark was contrive to give a free kick against Le Cras after having front position. :donk:

Sorry I can’t see the love.

I know, Deany was a beauty AGRO.

I am not saying Plowman will be as good but give him a chance mate.

He does a lot of good things too.

I think he will be a very important player for us.

Only time will tell.

Wright 0 tackles. Cripps and ECurnow double figure tackles, no one else close.

So Cripps gets 10 AFLCA votes for his superb game, rightly so. He also got 10 in Round 1, another blinder, which to me adds up to 20.

Yet this is the reported AFLCA leaderboard on afl.com.au

LEADERBOARD
28 Nat Fyfe (Frem)
26 Tom Mitchell (Haw)
24 Steele Sidebottom (Coll)*
24 Rory Laird (Adel)
23 Brodie Grundy (Coll)*
23 Dustin Martin (Rich)*
23 Ben Brown (NM)
19 Max Gawn (Melb)*
18 Stephen Coniglio (GWS)
18 Trent Cotchin (Rich)*
18 Lance Franklin (Syd)

*Yet to play

What a load of shit.

Largely because it hasn't been updated for Round 5.

Think they only updated figures for those in the top 10 as of round 4? It's weird.

Interesting spread and reflects the intensity of the contest.
