That's if we can get it out of the backline Red.

Every week we have had too many non contributors so I'm glad Kerridge is in as he will get more of the ball than Cunningham that's for sure.

Will Kerridge be playing down back?

He's not that lucky, that role goes to the 'outside running' types rather than the ball winners

They keep telling me the MC and coaching staff know more about football than I do, but.... gee, sometimes it's hard to see how.

Quick comparison b/w Kennedy & McKay at similar stage - ie. After first 2 years, when we traded Kennedy to WCE... and noting that McKay was pretty much injured for most of his first year:

Kennedy v McKay...

Games 22 v 2
Goals 11 v 3 (Avg 0.5 v 1.5 per game)
Kicks 4.2 v 5.5 per game
HB 2.5 v 2.0 per game
Marks 3.7 v 3.5 per game

Whilst Harry’s is a v narrow sample of just 2 games, he is tracking competitively against Kennedy who had more experience after 2yrs and is now seen as one of the top forwards of the competition.

Love the positivity :)

But I don't think you can draw any conclusions from Harry's 2 games really

I thought he looked like a non-cauliflowery Joe Daniher, which is pretty exciting.

Rowe on Kennedy, Jones loose man in defence.

Have no expectation of winning. Just looking for some specks of gold from the young blokes and a lot less gifting of possession to WC players.

I don’t expect us to win, or even come close. But I’ll be there tomorrow.

You know what, I’m tired of watching our boys playing in front of a combination of empty stands and ferals calling them shit.

The boys right now need us to build them up, not throw rotten fruit at them.

I’ve done a 180 on this the past couple of weeks, going from telling myself “if these players can’t be arsed, neither can I” to realising that the time to show unity and support is now. Otherwise, would it be any @#$%&! wonder if our young guys lost all confidence and became duds, or Cripps or Charlie left in a couple of years?

Again I look at Richmond. How many years were they shit but their supporters kept showing up?

IMO this is a tipping point for the club. If this group keeps getting told how useless they are, they’ll believe it. But maybe, if they know we’re behind them it could be just the thing to make them realise that they belong at this level and at this club, and grow because of it.

Jones has been a loose man in defence for a while now.

The Cunningham decision is bizarre. It goes against everything the club states about the growing process.

FB: Plowman, Jones, Mullett

HB: O’Shea, Rowe, Simpson

2 years of developing a backline and this is the defence? I know we have injuries but none of these players will be there in 2 years time except Plowman!

Apart from Simpson this could have been our VFL backline.

Watching Harry get a chance and Curnow strut his stuff are about the only positives I can take. Cunningham very stiff he's the only player besides Simmo that has run and carried the ball this year.

This reminds me a bit of a game in 1990 when we were in a massive slump & Jezza made 5 changes & brought in a bunch of second stringers just to change things up a bit.

We played Footscray at Footscray which was never easy, & won by 5 goals

Carlton by 125 points.

Isn’t the question rather, will anyone not be playing in the backline?
