IMO:
NEGATIVES
1. Team selection does not seem to be based on form. i.e. Polson promoted on ordinary form. Lamb less inspiring than Silvagni but Silvagni dropped.
2. Playing too Tall in the defence. Need to select the appropriate team for the appropriate opposition. Game planning appears to be poor!
3. We have a serious lack of speed and outside run/spread.
4. We need help in the engine room for Cripps. Next year ... highest priority should be a gun midfielder (easier said than done).
5. We seem to have only one game day plan ... we need a plan B in case plan A fails. We need a plan C in case Plan B fails. We need to be able to adapt (Resistance is Futile). When we were getting absolutely thumped by Collingwood in that second quarter, the coaches seemed to just sit on their hands (Maybe they tried things?). I felt at that stage we could have even gone man on man. Just anything would have helped ... DO SOMETHING!
6. We lack desperation ... tackling/pressure very poor etc. No confidence.
7. That old chestnut ... Terrible decision making. Maybe this will improve as Bolton has suggested ... synergy etc.
8. We are missing Docherty and Gibbs big time.
9. Not much to call on from the Northern Blues.
10. There is a certain player at the club who is very unhappy. Feels like he really has not been given much of a chance. I reckon he might be traded next year ... but just speculating.
11. A long and arduous season lies ahead.
POSITIVES
1. Charlie.
2. Pickett/Williamson/Lang will add some pace.
3. Money available for Sloane next year
4. Izak Rankine is an absolute gun ... we may get 1st shot in the draft.
5. No Madhouse
