Won't be much to look at.

IMO you need more skill to play in the wet
clean hands and good disposal in wet and windy conditions is needed

When looking at a number of players in recent year struggle with footy skills in wet/windy conditions, I wonder if they received decent grounding at junior levels in basics such as leaning forward and guiding the ball closer to your foot when kicking. If the ball deviates half an inch between your hand and foot, it can mean going 10 or 20 metres astray. Some players appear to maintain same kicking action whatever the conditions.

A wet night in Tassie
Against the roos
Coming off a really depressing 2 weeks of footy

Time to rest Dow. He is getting rag dolled at stoppages

Agree ... Polson does seem to be miles off AFL level. Hopefully he will improve.

With regards to DOW ... he seems to be getting better each week. Has a long way to go but I think its worth getting more AFL level game time into him.

If Polson had taken those 2 chances in front of goal last week he probably would have kept his place and there'd be a few good things said about him but he missed them and he got dropped. He got left on the ground for long spells so Bolton obviously wanted to get minutes into him. We will have a better view of his ability at seasons end

Bolton said McKay isn't ready but what's changed between being ready last year and not being ready this year? He sees him in training every day so obviously knows better than me but he had a pre-season this year and he's been available for all games.

He missed part of pre season training with turf toe.

Hence the selection of O'Shea.

I love the logic here

Sprays and turns over a lot of kicks for someone with "excellent disposal" it needs to be addressed going forward, also he isn't quick- he has elite endurance though.

Anyhow, expecting Weiters to show that he CAN play.PetSet to finally take hold of a game, and Dow to set a benchmark for himself..................reckon Ziebell and Cunnington are guns and need to be sat on and we are halfway there.I would send Cripps to Ziebell and Murphy to Cunnington.Sort of fight fire with fire..................the Roos are gettable.Blues by a whisker.

Looks like every other 3rd gamer, who struggles early. Some clubs continue to play them anyway and low and behold they become good players.
We are not those clubs. But yeah lets stick with the recycled cast offs and pretend we are rebuilding. Because it's been working so well.

No.

Polson has shown no sign of anything at AFL level.

Just because he’s young doesn’t mean he will magically develop into a good player.

He has nothing which Indicates that he will be able to cut it at AFL level, not now or ever.

If you keep playing Polson you may as well play Le Bois

Unlike LOB who is clearly at AFL pace

I can see potential with him from his practice matches, great kick and showed some great poise.

Made some mistakes too but I can see something in him and actual upside

I reckon Ziebell is overrated Mick. Mind you, that probably means he'll take us apart tomorrow.
I wouldn't send Cripps to anyone. Cripps is the ball winner, thats why Collingwood tagged him at the stoppages with Pendlebury.
Cunnington on the other hand is a very good player. Elite handball out of congestion and strong over the ball. Id send Ed to keep him quiet.
It will be interesting to see who Jacobs tags. Murphy maybe. I'm not sure he has the size to go with Cripps.

Both not particularly good users of the ball IMO

We won’t tag but they are both fine players.

Desperation wins in the wet as much as skill.
Keep the ball moving forward at all costs.
Collingwood pantsed the Crows last night. Anybody can beat anybody else if they take their A game to the park.

Nonsense, remember having the exact same conversation last year on this site about Fisher. Watched them both play numerous times before being drafted; probably before you had even heard of either, if not for injury Polson would have been top 20 in his draft.

Higgins is pretty dangerous too, I'd probably have Ed tag him and let Cripps go head to head with Cunnington.

Hope Stephensens performance last night is a bit of an inspiration to our young guys. Play with belief and confidence and have no fear.

I wrote something similar in the other thread though I think the team around Stephenson helped him alot last night. Unfortunately we rarely do that for our young players
