We cannot seem to shake this loser mentality

We have had so many chances with early draft picks but the mediocrity continues

Until we rid the club of this 17 year malaise, we will continue losing

I think the club needs to start lifting expectations as we can't continue to rely on "the process"

If we do, another spoon awaits us

Poor recruiting is still a problem. I’m not confident at all with SOS’s ability to identify talent. I think other than Curnow I’m not confident the other players he has selected so far.

To many 190cm+ players on the list since he’s taken over.
We have abunched of recycled hacks that haven’t paid off.

Is it any wonder we got pummelled today.
Game was lost at the selection table.

Not sure if Rodney Eade would be happy atm.

True. Gorringe would've been very helpful this season.

Bolton: The coaches and players are pretty frustrated with today.
Bolton: We had 67 inside-50s, but just made way too many mistakes.
Bolton: Fumbles and errors really hurt us.
Bolton: We need to build time together with this group so they can click.
Bolton: Our players can fix this, and they will. There were some uncharacteristic mistakes made today.
Bolton: We're really positive that Kreuzer will be able to play next week.
Bolton: I'm hopeful Kennedy will also be OK for next week.
Bolton: O'Shea has a real crack and always gives effort.

Watch our games with both eyes open and you’ll see what I’m seeing.

So give us the answers...

The first warning sign came when Bolton deviated from his defensive game plan to please the media and co who called us the boring blues. For me, we are not ready nor have enough quality players on the list to play a more offensive style of play. We lack, lack good decisions makers and we have porky skilled bolsters especially by foot.

By the looks of it today, our players looked lost dazed and confused out there and that’s because of the change of game plan that didn’t need to be changed just yet

Recruiting has been our problem. I don’t think SOS has done a good a job as most say to be honest. He has spent many tickets on 190cm + players when pace has been a problem for us for a long time.
How do you recruit a player like Mullet who’s been givemt the boot from a poor side.

Our midfield is poor. The depth in our midfield is poorer and we are a one pace.

My solution would be look at poaching a decenct recruiterto start with.

Bolton didn't drop the handball passes, the kicks to opposition, the lack of run.

Stop making excuses for the players.

Jones didn't man up.
Murphy failed to run.
Muppet didn't kick straight.
Lamb stopped our momentum with a shot in front.

Fumbles
Dropped marks
Broken tackles

All dumb stuff the coach can't control.

Casboult isn't a ruckman.

Why have a coach then. That's things he is supposed to both get them and motivate them to do. He supposed to get the players behind him to work harder at doing things like that. That's a part of coaching.

Leadership. Leaders that fail are ones that talk the talk but won't can't walk it. Lead by example. Our current captain is not up to his role. Probably our worst captain since I have followed the Carlton FC since 1968. I defy anyone to dispute that his performances as a captain and player so far this year have been poor. Today laid it all out in the open for all to see. No where to hide.

Sobering to say the least.

We dished up exactly the sort of performance those that watch us closely feared. That in itself is a massive failure.

Our skill level today was abysmal. As was our work rate, intensity, tackling, pressure and our defence in general.

Regardless of personnel out, to serve that up in round 2 imho is highly concerning.

Any (perceived) positivity generated from round 1 has fully evaporated. Much like my enthusiasm for the season.

Extremely deflated.

Why he did exactly the same thing this time last year.
The result is almost a carbon copy

Too many of these sort of efforts from a club that can't afford it. This was lost before we even took the field

Things are rarely as good as they seem, things are never as bad as they seem.

Some of the same supporters who talked us up all summer are now slashing their wrists.

The reality is that we lost two of our best players from last year (Gibbs & Docherty) and didn’t replace them with any ‘ready made’ stars. The club is still in rebuild mode. Yes we should expect better performances than today, but we will have those days sometimes as we get games into our youngsters and tune the offensive/defensive balance of our game style.

We lost by about the same margin to the same opponent this time last year. We have played about 3 good quarters out of 8 so far in 2018. It’s not good enough and we should expect more. But let’s not panic. Keep perspective.

A few of you need to not get so high when we win or so low when we lose. It’s bad for your health...

Still “hopeful” Kreuz and Kennedy will be fit.

Just tell us they’ll still be out FFS
