GUTSY Carlton midfielder Ed Curnow will make his long-awaited competitive return during the JLT Community Series, eight months after a seriously bruised larynx threatened his immediate football future.

Curnow, a popular member of the Blues’ leadership group, was recently given the green light by medical specialists to resume his AFL career.

I do love the way the media just sweep the cause of this injury under the rug.

There must have been a beer and a seat involved - let’s not get too worried about any chopsticks.

Great to have a game again at PP and interesting to see how many people are there on a Wednesday night

Recent performances at PP have been average so hoping for super competitive performance

8 on the bench does it stay like that or is it cut.
Side is too tall for early season games.
Speed kills up until about round 11

Yeah, I noticed that. Normally we don't throw the kitchen sink at a pre-season game until the last one.

I think with AFLX reducing the 'proper' pre season games from 3 to 2 most teams will go near full strength for both JLT games

Cool, get to see Dow, LOB, Garlett, Kennedy and Mullett out there. Looking forward forward to that and to seeing how some of the second and third year players have developed after another pre-season.

I know this is rhetorical, but do we really need Daisy in the starting 18.

Maybe - just maybe - the coaching panel want to see if he can still offer enough under match conditions. Perhaps he's not a certainty to be part of the starting list come season proper.

Looking forward to it. Obviously with playing Simmo, murph and Kruzer the signal is about readying a R1 team rather than total experimentation. I gather therefore that Thomas is in the R1 mix. Let's see how he goes. Wonder what the story is with Willow - if injury worry why an emergency and if not, surely a strong R1 contender.
Keen to see if Mullett, Garlett, Dow, McKay and LOB are ready to offer something in the early part of the season.

The other interesting thing is they appear to be named in positions we actually expect them to play (except Garlett as HFF rather than HBF). No Wiggins/Armfield at CHF kind of thing...

Levi is the prime marking forward in the team He will play every game if he stays fit.
Harry should go to CHF with Charlie playing the third tall role and having the odd burst up the field.

This is a JLT game and all the coaches will be there.
Don't expect the game plan to be unveiled before round one, even though they should show more run and stun.

Jack Silvagni is a smart and brave footballer but I am not convinced he is going to make it in our very best team in a year or two. I hope I am wrong.

I see with glee it is to be live streamed. Hopefully the thing will work this week.
