If the faster pace of AFLX leads to increased season-long injuries, as appears to be happening in the AFLW, I can just see all clubs drop this experiment like a hot potato.

Consequently really not sure how I feel about reading that some of our youngsters with pace are to be the clubs guinea-pigs in this facade. Fingers crossed no injuries at all are incurred at Carlton as a result of taking part.

Hopefully the games aren't long enough for these to occur.

Thanks Bill - yes Gro it is $10 but its the principle of the matter - you pay your AFL members at this time of year so you can go to the pre-season games - how ridiculous when you are trying a new concept and in particular when the crowds and interest re AFLW are way down -and your wanting to attract people to go to the game and get a bit of momentum into the season - we go to all JLT games we can and my daughters were going to go to this game but wont as students because of charge -they are exactly the people that the AFL SHOULD BE ATTRACTING to such a game

We are for example going into JLT against Aints in a couple of weeks time at PP and our AFL Membership grants us access to the game

Also what about the hypocrisy from AFL -let people into AFLW for nothing but try another new concept but make your longstanding members pay - by the way Gro - did pay last month for 3 full and 2 provisional memberships so not talking about paying peanuts either or being a tightwad

You see that X in the photo? The AFL had 3 of them made at a cost of just under $100,000.

$10 entry for members, jam it up your arse.

It's not a membership. Its a subscription. When was the last time the AFL Members were asked to vote on an issue or topic?

The creators of the crap should pay.

I think kick to kick would be a better spectacle.

it's got merit
just like we use to play when we were younger
you don't need a lot of people to play the game, it's faster, high scoring and on a smaller area
less contact for for the ever softer more protective parent(mother)
i think it will have a high participation rate and will challenge the ever more popular junior basketball, soccer crowd
if you can regard it as an initiation to the game it will do it's job

Really looking forward to seeing Dow, Kennedy and O'Brien play for Carlton for the first time. Also looking forward to seeing how Pickett, Williamson and Fisher look after another solid pre-season.
