I think 7 players on the edge either by others surpassing them, retirement or delisting by not getting senior games.
Graham
Kerridge
Lamb
Casboult
Phillips
Thomas
Rowe

Simpson to hopefully go on again if form permits.

5 or 6 more changes next year which will be the last of the turn over for SOS to make.

After the draft SOS seemed to indicate that this was the last year of mass rebuild, don't expect 13/14 delistings-retirements end of 2018. However, 7-8 is certainly on the cards as listed above and noting that Slimmo can't go on forever and must be taken year by year at this stage of his career.

Casboult and Phillips both contracted for 2019. I suspect they’ll be safe beyond next year.

We can now fill both our seniors and VFL sides with the right players in the right positions. And the beauty is that many of them are young and talented.

The nuff nuffs out there will still bag us out, but you'd have to have rocks in your head to not see what it is we're building with this group.

The building blocks for a successful era are there. The defence is set, the midfield group has genuine depth (despite the Gibbs hit), and we now have a good mix of tall, medium and small forwards.

As SOS said, the key will now be let this group play and develop as a unit. The great teams of recent times (such as the Cats and Hawks) did this and it's a very good reason they're still in amongst it today. The work of the list management group is almost done, it's now up to the coaches and development team to get this group to the level required.

Looks like we really shored up our outside run in 2017 as Bolton wished. We'll probably have another couple of years of early picks before all these young guns mature to add some more elite talent to our midfield.

Looking at the way SOS built that powerful GWS midfield he used first rounders on Kelly, Coniglio, Whitfield, Adams, Greene as well as signing Scully, Ward, Treloar and Shiel. Looks like he uses the lower picks on flankers, third talls etc.

He's done similar since he's been with us, using first rounders on SPS, Dow, Cuningham and O'Brien while preferring to use later picks on guys like Williamson, Macreadie, Polson etc.

I can see us adding another two mids with elite talent before our crop of 2015 draftees mature and take us up the ladder in 2020.

2020...sheez!

Why not 2019 or even next year for a decent ladder climb?

Now let's see if they are actually allowed to run and carry.
Our game plan for two years has been up and back, down the wings to a contest and kick to a crowded forward line hoping for a big mark or a goal from the spillage.
Those rare occasions we ran the ball through the corridor shocked the opposition so much they actually worked a treat.
We look to have the cattle for a plan A and plan B, which the great Brisbane team had under Leigh Matthews. Try A and if it isn't working, go to B.
I am always optimistic that next year will be a big improvement on last year. Sometimes I am disappointed, sometimes not.
Next year we have to make some sort of statement, even if we only jump a few places and show the competition our list is coming for them.

Is the end of 2018 when we go after a 'big fish'? Will we even need a big fish?

There's a few there. Gaff or Sloane would be good additions to our midfield.
