Both Melbourne and Brisbane have benefited from mature recruits in Hodge and Lewis. Maybe we could pick up someone like one of them.

I wonder what Clarko thinks as well?
If he is against it, Carlton's got no hope.

Let's face facts, though, Carlton has no power at Gill's House. The AFL wouldn't have the guts to reinstate the PP, as the media outcry would be enormous.

Let's say they give Carlton pick 14-15 or whatever as "compensation" for winning 2 games out of the last 23 or whatever it is....the draft is still a lottery and it takes 2-3 years to develop a player when there is no senior support around them.

Meanwhile, Hawthorn needs a new key defender as Frawley (a player who they took without any cost from Melbourne) is getting a bit dubious this year. An immediate high quality player is traded via free agency at the end of this year, whilst Carlton takes "the right path and plays the kids" via 100 point schellackings. And the process continues.

Carlton doesn't need more draft assistance more so than it needs to know it can retain the players it has without clubs circling for their talent. A club that has been bottom 4 in the last 4 years can't be used for free agency unless the other club provides substantial compensation...they are the type of rules the AFL should have in place by the END OF THIS YEAR.

Or alternatively, the AFL should just sit on their hands...and watch 3-4 dead rubber matches every weekend after the bye every year. That is a much better alternative.

Interesting to the contrasting public comments by Murphy and Cripps.
Murphy, for whatever reason, has publicly stated he has to think about things when asked about his future at Carlton.
Cripps, for the second time this week, was asked if he was going anywhere.
His response "No mate, I like it here......we're building something special."
Why Cripps has been asked this twice in a week is another matter, considering he is not even out of contract this year.

Agree with the sentiment Tap, but let’s take care of this ourselves. Let’s forget about FA for a couple of years and use the money to lock in our young talent with some long, heavily front ended contracts.

Hardly a fair comparison, Murphy only has a couple of years left to play including probably one contract. Cripps has many years and many contracts in his future.

Let’s see what Cripps says in 8-10 years after he’s stuffed his body carrying Carlton and we’re still on the bottom of the ladder, that would be a fair comparison......

Blues won’t apply for priority pick: McClure

McClure also added Liddle said, “we got ourselves into this situation, we will get ourselves out of it.”

But what will the AFL give us for the departure of FA Waite to North:

4 years
600K per year.

That's not a PP, that's for the the Compensation we didn't receive.

Carlton didn't receive any Compensation.
Waite was not a DFA, he was a FA.

Dumb in my view - get everything you can and to broadcast our approach to this when we are half a season in -doesn't make sense - what if we don't win another game for the year - a possibility -

Bulldust megaphone diplomacy do this stuff behind closed doors with the AFL we know this is the AFLs modus - and why should we be worried about what every other club thinks - didn't Brisbane get one recently

Lets be pure and stay on the bottom of the ladder -

What Liddle said today is the best thing I have heard coming out of the club for a very long time

So I’m guessing a deal has been done for Marc Murphy’s departure.

I was saying that the other day. Make sense, ask Melbourne.

Would be funny if we don't win another game and Brisbane win only another couple and they get a PP, because they ask for one.
