CARLTON vice-captain Sam Docherty has emphatically rejected claims his club needs AFL support and a priority pick, backing the Blues’ emerging talent to lead a sharp rise up the ladder.

Quote:
“We’ve got the talent at the football club to do something pretty special. It’s a matter of us being together for some time now and getting our guys actually on the park — myself included — is a big part of that.”

Docherty’s strong stance comes after reports two future stars are set to recommit to Carlton, with Patrick Cripps and Charlie Curnow reportedly indicating their desire to sign new deals.

By my reckoning, that would make them restricted free agents.

Sure does. Any sensible player would do that.

Unless we're being run by Donald Trump, you would assume there are alternative thoughts and strategies to this... Otherwise I don't get why you wouldn't take a 'freebie'

Go you good things

Yep. Slow cut us apart last time, so good move. And also E. Curnow too Fyfe.

I love the mindset. Very different from the insipid past.

HUN saying both Cripps and Curnow will be on around $800,000 a year.
Seems a bit much for Charlie so not sure if those figures are accurate.

The only things you can safely take as correct in the Hun are the purchase price and the date.

Cripps is already a million dollar man.
Curnow will be.

I would have like Cripps to commit for longer ... it worries me that he only extended by 2 years ... and he will become a free agent then.

He'd have a pretty shit manager if he'd been advised to sign on for any longer.

It puts the whole club on notice. That's a good thing IMO.

That’s ok, we can use the priority pick to swap for a good player....oh wait, that’s right, we don’t need it......
