Come back and fight it's only a foot wound.
I am irrationally angry with Mirph. I honestly do not know why as it is not his fault with the plantar trouble.

It's past 3pm on Monday 18th June and as always the Carlton Website is as useless as "...... on a bull". Let's face it it's just a link off the AFL site.

Anyway ..... can you give us any news on Alex Silvagni ??? We've got posters telling us about repeat achilles ... about a broken ankle but nothing official from the club. FFS just update the site or does it have to go through the AFL approval process ???

Not worth having

Injuries are announced Tuesday, always by McKay. Why? Most likely due to players getting medical reviews as to the state of injuries.

Yeah ..... just pee'd off that we can't go one week without "what appears to be" a long term injury and it's key defenders that are going down. It never rains but it pours.

Ruptured achillies - gone for the season.

Given it flared up in April is this another case of the medico's rushing back a player who was clearly not recovered......?

Marchbank
Kennedy
Kruezer
Murphy
ASOS

Who did I miss..?

Our medical team needs to be reviewed.... and so does whoever is responsible for appointing them.

Marchbank was supposed to be back after the bye, now it is another 'week or so' according to McKay. Sounds like 3 weeks.

All this stuff about Carlton’s medicos being second rate etc is just bogus. They all generally use the same best practice guidelines (apart from the druggies a few years back).they generally know each other and they share best practice intel.

I am not sure whether those that are baying for the medicos blood realise that this is a dynamic sport that requires significant amounts of lateral movement, power, agility, force and speed. Throw external collisions on top of that and you have the makings of wonderful array of potential injuries.

As for ASOS, achilles are often regarded as the old athletes’ injuries. Some players age better than others. With his history, he is regarded as an old athlete. It really wasn’t a stretch to believe he would acquire another injury. Unfortunately players like him are seen as expendable as well, though that is another issue. If they could get a few games out of him until the end of the year then good. While I don’t susbscribe to this ideology, it is commonplace in football.

Now I suspect there will be the array of the usual, what about Kennedy, what about Marchbank etc? My response will be to look at Adelaide, GWS and Bulldogs. When they were going strong they had minimal injuries and I would hazard a bet they have changed little in the way they go about injury management. Shit happens on a footy field and sometimes the cards are stacked against a club. It will be our turn one season. And that’s when we will make some progress as well.

The issue isn’t (fully at least) with the injuries themselves.

It’s the number of re-occurrences along with the lack of transparency from the club about recovery eta’s.

These two factors combined rightly or wrongly give the impression that club has NFI what its doing in the area of injury management.

It’s a great relief that the O’Shea injury isn’t too serious.
