Gibbs and Doc are the outs,.
Murphy and Marchbank the others with some merit.
Simmo 1 game, Plowman the rest of the year.
The others haven't even proven consistent best 22.
Just like the rest of the comp you lose players you pick up players.
If your coach and his support staff can't adjust then they might not just be up for the fight, hey just like our team that got embarrassed by the second last team on the weekend.
Was that one you were counting on being a win.
With the list rebuild, how can you say who is our best 22? My bet is it will be quite a bit different to Bolts list
We haven't gone into any game this year with the same players, and only 2 games for the entire year where we haven't had to make changes due to injury. Couple this to the huge player turnover and the task of having all these player learning game plan and chemistry with each other there is no much more the coach can do.
No coach in the comp has had to deal with the level of player turnover and injuries particularly to the defensive group (of which every player/coach in history has repeatedly noted the importance of consistency and chemistry in the back six) as Bolts has had to and yet you say he is not up for the fight
I think all this attacking of the coaching and recruiting departments, especially when they have only had 3 years to perform the biggest list overhaul in the AFLs history, shows a lack of understanding of the modern game and how fine the line is to be a success or total failure.
I remember having breakfast in April 2014 with some friends and they brought a relative along who happened to be Nick Daffy (Assistant coach for Malthouse with the NBs). He told me at breakfast that Carlton had the worst list that he had ever seen and there was no talent in the twos. I had to disagree and started to ask about a heap of players that have now moved on from AFL. In hindsight he was spot on the money.
This alone is enough reason for SOS to come in and draft all the GWS "rejects", because they were all better than the list we had. The media and some supporters don't want to see they were brought in to bring up the base talent on the list. Some have been great, others, well they're not there anymore and apart from a couple they were mostly not brought in to be elite A graders.
With all the injuries we've had especially to the back 6 as Steve has stated, it's no wonder we are where we are this year. Not even top clubs can handle that many injuries and you only have to look as far as Adelaide to see this. We have a midfield that lacks depth and experience and an unsettled backline, I'm actually surprised we haven't been flogged more this year.
The team is still shallow on talent and the real talent we have are still only kids, patience, more drafting, some good trading and a good run from injuries and things will turn pretty quick for us. The list as a whole is better than it was in 2014.
