I would really appreciate if someone could explain the EGM process. I have zero idea. I heard the board tried to bring in a rule that they couldn’t be replaced? I know nothing …

Anyone?

100 signatures needed to call an EGM.

The new group, Carlton Now or Wow group led by Carlton Life Member and ex Coterie Frank Loccisano.

Quote:
A rebel Carlton supporter group has formally triggered the process for an extraordinary general meeting and a spill of the Luke Sayers-led board.

The group led by Blues life member and former “Carltonians” coterie president Vince Loccisano presented papers at the club’s Princes Park headquarters at 11.45am on Friday.

The move means the club will be required under the terms of the Carlton constitution to schedule an EGM by October 27.

New Carlton president Sayers, who replaced Mark LoGiudice as president a week ago, said on Friday morning the Loccisano-led board challenge was “not in the best interests of Carlton”.

“I’m a pretty pragmatic guy. We have a democracy, so if (Loccisano) wants to round up the necessary signatures and go to the EGM, that’s his prerogative,” Sayers told SEN.

Loccissano’s group says the time for change has come.

“Once again, this dysfunctional board does what it does best – sacks yet another coach to hide its own shortcomings, to distract from a decade of the worst decision-making in Carlton’s 157-year history,” Loccisano said.

“Our members’ movement – ‘Carlton Now’ – in the middle of a strict lockdown in Victoria, has easily collected enough signatures to compel the club to hold an EGM and will lodge the petition on Friday.

The current group says they have the 100 signatures and a few more incase the existing Board questions some of the signatures. That sounds suss in itself.

They want to keep the current President Sayers? Despite him being part of the current Board they want to spill.

I can't see the spill happening, because people who oppose the current Board, like TC's keogh aren't even Members, let alone voting Members.

They're an angry lot.

Quote:
We have easily cleared the constitutional requirements, with considerable reserves should any signatures be challenged. This is an incredible achievement and speaks to the unprecedented anger and frustration with this board.”

Loccisano said an alternative board of directors would be revealed prior to the EGM taking place.

Getting 100 signatures is an incredible achievement?

Don't know if he sets bars very high.

How disruptive could this be? And has one been called before? Thanks for the info.

I actually feel good about the changes, and Sayers was impressive. But we can judge this in 12 months time

Ditto. Give the new bloke a chance. I've liked what I've heard thus far, and the tone he's set for the club.

I’m glad this has happened based purely on the basis that the board knows it’s not untouchable

Haven't many on TC said that the only dept that has stood the test of time during CFCs dark era has been the Board.

Now someone has come along trying for a bit of reform and there seems to be mainly ridicule.

Dude, these blokes are the equivalent of Clive Palmer. "Everything is shit, vote for me".
"Interesting, I also have some concerns with the board. what is your platform, who is on your ticket, what are you going to change, any broad ideas of how?"
"The current board are shit fat cats who removed me as head of a coterie. Also, kouta and all home games at princes park"

A bit of reform? What are the options? Some [REDACTED] who was a previous member of the Carltonians on an ego trip.
Other options? Nobody knows.
Why would I bother contemplating it?

Yep. Ridicule seems quite apt.

Board haven’t been brilliant but like the way it is tracking with President Sayers and new board members
Much more professional board

Not sure what New Carlton stand for ie what is their platform

This crap will not help us entice coaches and players from other clubs.

I am prepared to give Sayers at least 12 months before even considering supporting a board challenge.

Whoever is agitating should keep their powder dry until the new look board, new coach and (possibly) new CEO & Football Manager have a chance to show us what they can do.

Clowns are only hurting the club they supposedly love.
