SOS disappointingly has had a big crack on radio in respect to Liddle and his departure last year

Disappointing given we are going into trade period trying to acquire players and had a relatively positive season and vibe around the club
Puts more pressure on Austin as List Manager
Puts more pressure on JSOS particularly when SOS has comments about certain players

In short WE DONT NEED this crap

Here's an article on the story…

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-tr ... a723504258

The commentary on Betts is porbably the most pertinent, I think the stuff around his sons is always going to be difficult to interpret, but SOS' version of signing Eddie isn't…

Quote:
Silvagni on Wednesday, though, said the club’s list management “all agreed” that Betts should come to Carlton, but added he had reservations because the goalkicker’s homecoming would come “at a price”.

Silvagni confirmed he wasn’t aware or consulted by Liddle before the Blues boss offered more money to Betts.

“When someone above decides ‘well, you know what I’m going to change those rules’ – and the reason why you get a little bit annoyed and frustrated at times is that when we went into the Carlton Football Club … our list wasn’t in a good state and either was our salary cap,” Silvagni said.

“You work really, really hard to get your salary cap and TPP into a position that you know you can look after the players now and you can look out of place in the future. But when certain people start splashing money out after we all agree what that payment should look like … I don’t find that fair. And that’s what I said at list management (meetings).

“We all have a responsibility to make sure that those players are looked after that are loyal to that football club. When you have people at football clubs overrule your decisions that you’ve worked so hard for – and because they want memberships to look great or they want the accolade that we’re bringing someone back – is their intention the right intention for the Carlton Football Club? And I don’t think it was.”

Manna from heaven for Watson and Lyon.

“Hey, things are looking good for Carlton, how can we embarrass them on the eve of trade period? I know, let’s call up a disgruntled ex-employee to unload on his former bosses, hurt their credibility, and force the value of their trade targets up!”

I thought you were a better man than this SOS.

It is OK for the CEO to come in and make calls and get involved in any department of the club he feels he needs to. SOS clearly didn't like it because he probably was used to having full control. If thats the reason why he is frustrated then I question his ability to deal with adversity within a work place. It happens all the time in the real world.

Where I feel for SOS is the part about his sons. The club should never have publicly mentioned his sons in the reason why SOS was let go. A simple statement saying that SOS's contract has expired and the club is looking at different options would have sufficed. That was poor and I can see why SOS would be hurt by that.

Getting Betts into the club was a great move and if it costs us more than what SOS wanted then it was the right call by Liddle. Without Betts there is a good chance Martin and Williams would not have chosen the club. The positive impact Betts has in the locker room can't be ignored.

No one is bigger than the club and I have no problem with Liddle making sure he is all over each department of the club and making decisions if he feels he needs to. SOS came across as a professional but read between the lines, there is a lot of bitterness there and mostly around the way his exit was handled. Everything else he spoke about relating to the club itself, was fairly petty and its easy to see both sides of the coin.

Like all competitive types there's a little bit of cauliflower in him I reckon.

Loved SOS but this is further proof it’s all about him rather than the club.

No doubt, and it’s one of the reasons I’ve admired him on and off field.

But to say you love the club, while knowingly damaging its image, just to settle a score, is pettiness personified.

Wasn't he also a prick to deal with when out of contract as a player?

He certainly did.

He also put the acid on Teague for next year.

“Looking back at the press release, it just put the boys under the bus,” Silvagni told SEN Breakfast.

You cant complain about the club putting the boys "under the bus" and then come out with crap like this. Surely these comments have put more pressure on Jack than anything the club did.
This just reinforces my view that it's all about SOS. Loved him as a player but his behaviour as list manager smacked of "look at me". IMHO.

I hope the club has the grace to come out and say "that is SOS' version, we don't agree but it's not in anyones best interests to elaborate any further and we wish him all the best"
Jack doesn't need this shit in the media.

I don't think the club should say anything at all. Within a week this will be forgotten.
