You mean from a stable culture POV? Yes. Otherwise, I think there's some wise heads in the footy department. Footballers notice when footballers at other clubs are enjoying their footy and the coach, assistants and specialist staff genuinely want to achieve great things.

Now - if he could get the flower of a membership department right, he'd achieve great things for supporters.

I'm thinking more from the perspective of how he communicates and presents himself. I can only imagine players being impressed when meeting him and thinking the club is going places.

Glad it's working out for you. I'm tired of their incompetence and I am at odds with the strategy of automatic renewal prior to a fixture release. Still taking members for granted.

Agree with Doc, the auto-renewal is poor form, don't like at all. Definitely should not be a default opt-in. But that aside, I'm with Mick on the excellent customer service in the membership crew. I've had to juggle our family's memberships a bit the last few years and they've always been very helpful and efficient in getting done what I've requested.

I don't like it either but other clubs do it too.
My hubby and daughter are Collingwood members who have auto renewal, theirs starts same time as Carlton's.
My gripe is we don't know how many games we will actually get to see in Melbourne. Going by the last two seasons it has only been 15. Compare this to a club such as Collingwood who gets 17 each year.
We may actually get a decent fixture next year, but I doubt it.
The AFL are too busy looking after their precious Gold Coast Suns.

Love the auto-renewal. Not sure what the issue is.

At the very least, clubs should wait until the fixture is released before charging credit cards. Can't justify paying $850 to attend a handful of games.

That's fair enough, but presumably the prices have to be set beforehand to allow them to start selling memberships prior to November, so it doesn't make much difference (we know we'll get 15-17 games in Melbourne per year).

I find it much easier with reserved seats to not have to confirm that I'll be joining each year by a certain date.

Yep...I had reserved seats on Lvl 2...accepted the generous upgrade, but if I opt out of Legends Lounge, I have to go to Level 1. I'll also be overseas for 1/2 weekends in May and again for most of August. It's a home game membership. So doesn't really make sense to keep the Legends Lounge...but kinda feel like we never mattered in being demoted to the cheap seats if I downgrade. The club have given me until I see the fixture to decide, but I'll probably let the membership go next season and opt for a more flexible arrangement that the club doesn't offer.

^^ Assume you're talking about Marvel?
My old man's just had a similar conversation with the club.
We also have reserved seats in level 2. Elly told him they are considering making the area a free-for-all with no reserved seating for Legends Lounge. Cannot see the point in a LL membership in that case and we've given our feedback on this.

Legends Lounge is essentially just Captains Club on Level 2, with the option of standing behind glass to watch the game if you want. Pointless membership category.

Agree, it could be better... we didn't choose it. It was a "free upgrade" when the different packages were tweaked.

I got the upgrade to it this season as well, but wasn't forced to change seats and it hasn't been included this year.

(As I understand it)....If you were upgraded to Legends Lounge for 2019, you will be auto-renewed as a Legends Lounge member for season 2020. You'll only lose your Lvl 2 seats if you don't want to continue as a LL member and want to downgrade. Your reserved seats will be on Level 1. In essence, punished for accepting an upgrade that was viewed as a trial.

But according to the club there's a very sizeable waiting list for LL membership. They chose to put a price on loyalty and I believe that price is too much.

Oh right. I got the card to use at Marvel last season but doesn't seem to have been included automatically this year. I have Captains Club reserved seats for home (L1) and away (L3) matches so maybe that played a part. I prefer L1 anyway and stand for the away games so it doesn't bother me. Still get the guaranteed access to a GF ticket.

At a social function yesterday i was fortunate to be on the same table as a former board member..........wont reveal who, don't talk out of school................anyhow,had a big chat about the club...............the club is moving forward. He believes Liddle is brilliant and in time will be recognised as the best CEO in the AFL.A real emerging superstar in the footy world.Could not have been more glowing in his praise of Liddle...................also very pleased with new footy chief Lloyd.Extremely good operator according to ex board member and he feels the whole footy department is better for his addition.........i queried him on the so called rift between Lloyd and SOS.In his words it was complete bullshit. There relationship is sound, its just that they have VERY robust discussions on just about everything which he believes is very HEALTHY.....................in his words again, nothing worse than a whole group of yes men pissing in each others pockets. He is very optimistic about our future and has great faith in all the guys up there steering the ship........................just confirms what i hear from other people in the know................great aint it.

You should have queried him on the rift between SOS and Liddle and not SOS and Lloyd.
