So who applied or was approached unsuccessfully for the @westernbulldogs CEO job? Anything to divert attention from shoddy journalism about @CarltonFC

Lethlean def promised the job by MLG. Not sure the rest of the board agreed with that.

Prefer Liddle so good result.

Do you think it’s coincidence that da meedya ran a story about Lethlean’s emails the day after we announce our new CEO?

Almost as though they were holding it for some reason, and then ran it after something happened to make it pointless.

Also, should we be a bit concerned that our Prez (for all the good he’s done) still seems to have the odd “old Carlton” brainfade?

Ralph & Chip work for News Corp

They wouldn't get a gig anywhere else

Is Chip still a shill for the Essendon* Football Club?

Yes
And yes.
A liddle bit.
Apparently the most important fact about our new bloke is he played 4 games for Cats. ( incompetent footballer obviously so it follows that he will be incompetent as CEO.)
Now KB saying we stole him from tiges and so they need to trounce us even more next year.

I'd suggest his decision making days are done. Not saying he won't remain Prez...just that he's learned his lesson the hard way. In my opinion, there is a ready made replacement already on the board if he decided to step aside.

Looks like we may have dodged a big scandalous bullet by not appointing Lethlean. AFL as usual caught trying to manage the story.

Dodged a bullet and the Herald Sun will be pissed off that their story isn't the 'gotcha Carlton' they would've loved it to be.

will give new guy a go but not convinced he is going to be better than Trigg and would have preferred a gun from outside the industry rather than another insider

Depends how much of the media narrative / fairytale you believe.

Lethlean may have been spoken to early on, but was never going to be appointed without a full search/ interview process being undertaken.

thanks OR couldn't see how if Jenkins was on committee -how we could appoint Lethlean in any case - happy we went through a thorough process but not sure the 2ic at Richmond is the greatest choice and why we continue to recycle CEOs from the football industry when there are a plethora of other really good candidates outside the industry - trigg this guy Swann - all insiders -just maybe by searching for candidates outside the bubble we might be able to get a few innovative new ideas and also have a person who really knows and understand corporate governance

Re externals, the Hawthorn CEO failure may have been a red flag.

Also, the Richmond figures are compelling, with double membership and $15M external business directly related to Liddle’s portfolio, it seems.

I for one welcome our new overlord.

In this instance (and others where Mark LoGuidice acts before he thinks)...all of it.
