Good point, but the club still ought to do the right thing and offer reimbursement as an option should the season go on without attendees. I'd be horrified if they pocketed the coin.

 Thought there might be at least one! There'll be plenty more. It's no fault of their own, but the clubs shouldn't be permitted to pocket millions for a seat they can't put your bums in.

Dude I'm interstate. Me and my boys get to maybe two games a year. It's always a donation for us. But if these cats are just going to trot around and cash their cheques then I may as well gety donation back and give it to so e struggling gig economy worker who actually needs it

So many of you giving donations...pity they're not a registered charity. Cats is appropriate. That show was woefully bad, but people kept going to see it on Broadway for 18 years. Carlton no different.

I forewent my membership a few years ago to pay a live overseas streaming service instead. I have been in Mexico for about 18 years with a few in Oz in between so my membership has always been a donation to the club in that time.
I'd be happy for it to say that way were I still a member.
What I am not so happy about is the AFL charging me a full year's subscription for the live stream this season. When I opted in a month or more ago to renew, there was no such thing as the corona virus. They took the money after round one in the knowledge there would probably be zero games played this year.
I think that's a bit rich on their part. I'm going to try for a refund and buy a club membership wit it.

Like a lot of you I wont asking for the direct debit to stop or a refund. I still want a club to support at the end of all this.

BS, next year do the international membership with the club and you get the streaming service as part of the membership and it is even a little cheaper in the final washup. Better for the club to pocket the bulk of the funds going forward.

Do you really get an international streaming account with international membership? I’ve never heard of this.

The streaming that BS and I subscribe to give us access to all matches from all clubs across pre season comp, WFL and full season including finals. Plus the ability to replay any game at any time. Is this what Carlton offers?

I’m with you in this, I also pay for the international streaming plus I have NSW memberships for me an my daughter (which is where I lived before moving to Singapore). NSW membership seemed better than international at the time, but I obviously need to revisit this decision.

I’ve been to less than a handful of matches in the last 12 years so I also see this as a willing donation to the club. Ironically I was never a paid member until after the salary cap penalties as I never felt the club needed my support until that point, yet I have attended many, many more matches before being a member than as a member (100s more).

On the other hand I would like to have my international streaming membership refunded in some form.

FYI those in the same boat, I have emailed Fox twice and asked them for my money back on the grounds they took my subscription out of the bank AFTER the season was cancelled.
To date no reply, but I pay for it with Paypal, so I can go into a dispute with Fox and Paypal will pay me. All I have to do is prove I have tried to resolve the issue with Fox first, which a few non-replies to repeated attempts to contact them will do.
I'd rather donate the money to the club than Fox, which is basically all I am doing at the moment.

This is my 50th consecutive year of membership. I took out social club membership as a junior.
Even though the social club no longer actually exists I've continued on. The social club used to be an important place to visit for a beer whenever in Bleak City. But no more. Still I maintained paying my dues.

Have I received value ? Probably not, but like others, I've looked at it as a donation to the club I love.

It's people like you and there are thousands of them that will make the difference come the crunch.
It's 2003 all over again.
