Why is there so much love for Mullet? Ditched from a team with a worse list ... I would rather play kids.

Docherty is a major loss ... I can't see that Mullet is any better a replacement than a Byrne or Williamson or Plowman.

We certainly have loads of tall defenders in Rowe, A Silvagni, Jones, Marchbank and Macreadie.

The backline is pretty easy to select without even thinking about Mullet.

Also ... I really believe we should play Garlett and Pickett right from the start and be patient with them.

he's not a tall bbw or play the same role but i do agree that he's not a walk up as we have better options, but we will soon find out
i would love to see garlett and pickett given time and space
i also i think williamson's possie is on the wing

I like it. Pretty much my selections.

My interchange would be Dow, Garlett, E. Curnow, J Silvagni

If you want a more zippy forward line ... leave out McKay and bring in Cunners. (I'd be happy to give McKay a few games right from the start).

Simpson Jones Marchbank
Byrne Weitering Plowman
Williamson Cripps SPS
Lang Charlie Garlett
Wright Casboult Pickett

R:Kreuzer Murphy Kennedy

I:Dow, Cuningham, E. Curnow, J Silvagni

Lamb and Fisher unlucky.
I don't want to see Mullet, O'Shea or Shaw in that first team. Look I might be wrong and I hope I am ... but they look like like list cloggers to me. Boekhorst had a much bigger up side than the 3 of them but anyway ... water under the bridge now.

I reckon we will give the Tigers a run for their money.

I'd be both surprised and disappointed if Fisher isn't in our Rd 1 side.
Exciting young talent.

Biggest issue with Fisher is that he does not get enough of the ball. I would also like to see him in the team but who do you leave out?

Lang ... Dow ... Cuningham???

Fishers role last year was to pressure and tackle... and leave the possie gathering to the senior players. Hope he gets let of the leash a bit more this year

Its so difficult this year to fit people in the team. We really have a lot of young talent.

From memory he found a bit more of the footy in his last 3 matches of the season.
Will no doubt benefit greatly from his first full pre-season and to me looks a class act - one touch player and good decision maker with clean disposal.

Good memory, three of his four highest possession games came in the last three rounds, though the biggest of those was still only 16.

Half of Richmond’s team didn’t get a touch in the GF. They play a role.

Well yes ... but that does not mean a particular player should not be getting possessions. Look I understand that Fisher is a bit of a favourite with people ... he is a real man on a mission type ... when he gets the ball he is very zippy. I really want him to succeed and he has some fine qualities that should take him down that path. I know he is just starting out and needs time ... maybe part of the problem is his size. Whatever the case ... he currently does not get enough of the ball although it was encouraging to see his possession count go up a bit at the end of the season. Right at this moment I could not fit him into the first team. Lets hope he continues to grow in this area as the season progresses.

I think if Garlett plays (and I don't think he will play round one) he takes Byrne's place, like the others I think Fisher plays. He already looks to have beefed up.
I can't see Dow getting a run before Fisher.

Go have a look at how much ball Z.Merret got in his first year vs Fisher, and Fisher played almost exclusively as a small fwd, smfh "Doesn't get enough ball".

Fisher needs to back his kicking more. One of the best kicks in the team. Too often, he unselfishly handballed it to someone whose kicking was worse than his. Once the belief comes, he will be a beauty. His size is irrelevant. Simpson is proof of that

You just need to watch what he did in Rnd 22 win against the Hawks to see what he can do.

Untouchable like SPS.

They will both put on muscle.
But I'm hoping their core is their strongest point.

Hopefully Judd will steer them in the right direction in that department.
I'm confident he is.

This kid is all class.

There's plenty of spots up for grabs and plenty of competition for spots in the Seniors.

If he can't make the Seniors then we have an abundance of class players. That would be nice.

Roll on March 22nd.

I am fired up. If we could win this one the season opens up.

The following 5 rounds are all winnable and in Melbourne.

Gold Coast
Collingwood
North
Westcoast (who have lost key midfielders)
Bulldogs

Call me an optimist but if we beat Richmond ... look out.

In 2002 when we were penalised, people were saying it would take 7 years to recover from the mess.

As if Elliot had not done enough damage, as one last nail in the coffin he appointed Pagan which turned into another disaster and ensured multiple wooden spoons.

Remarkably, a good decision was finally made and Ratten lifted us off the bottom and into the finals (even though our list was still pretty crap).

Then came the most majestic decision the club had made in many a year (NOT). The appointment of the Madhouse. This decision was devastating and did enormous damage to the club.

The list has now been completely refurbished and hope has once again returned to the club.

I really want to be optimistic. I am so sick of all the bad stuff.

If we beat Richmond the fixture for the first 5 or 6 rounds really works in our favour.

Go Blues!
