The Tractor as VC

Would need to be vocal on field.

And off field for that matter...

Way too soon.

I love the guy but he seemed a bit fragile this year and needs time to settle into himself.

Can't really see any serious contenders to Doc and Cripps.

They're our two best, most charismatic and hard players.

I reckon I'll lose my shit if it's not them.

Just seems so bloody obvious!

Someone who can be bothered could set up a poll on this.

And then maybe they could marry too!

personally I'm not offended in any way...i like the kids

sure other clubs found it amusing...but even that's

Captain Carlton...yay...ney...?

A few years ago we hosted an exchange student for a week and took him to a game. He loved Captain Carlton and dragged me to the fence to get a selfie with him.

So I'd say Captain Carlton is a huge hit with 14yo Japanese kids.

Meh - doesn't do much for my girls.

The Blue Birds would do a bit for me, but. :smoking:

So with another 12 months under his belt (provided Murph stays on), surely C Curnow should be considered???

Clearly I'm seeing things a little differently. Crippa and Doc are guns and long termers, but just seem a little quiet (ala Murph) to me.

Just saw the poll included. Dunno how its done, but could you please include Curnow. Would be particularly interested to see how he rates.

Doc. He seems to be durable.

But its great to have the options we appear to.
Cripps, Doc, Ed, Charlie, Marchbank and even Jack.
Kreuzer would be a leader by example type guy
Weitering will be a leader. Cuningham is the type to kick the goal when we need one.
Simmo, Murph and ASOS among the older guys.
Plenty to like about the leadership qualities on the list.

Guys, I’m sorry but I don’t understand the Charlie hype on being captain. Cmon, the guy has player 5 good games. Cripps is a good player - played 10 good games. Doc has to be the front runner - most consistent performer, right age bracket. Still reckon we need another year to decide though. Our boys are very young.

Just on the grand final...Crows leaders need to stand up. Richmond are mediocre.

Saw this report on Lateline last night, was very interesting actually.

http://www.abc.net.au/lateline/us-autho ... to/9025702

Goes for 7 min. Worth a view.

The next Captain of the Carlton Football Club is, without a doubt, the son of a West Australian farmer who loves pig shooting and the physicality of the hard and brutal pack contests. Crippa is a prodigious football talent, born to lead CFC in the long term. For the short term, don't dismiss a bloke who deserves a crack as his endeavour can't be questioned. When Ed Curnow suffered a split larynx after copping an errant elbow from the perfumed assassin, Trent Cotchin, he was in the rooms distressed and in agony. seconds later, Jed Lamb went by on a stretcher and Ed found the guts and determination to get back on the field and play out the game. That is the character of Ed. He is a true leader and could help fast-track you know who in the forward line with his brotherly commands

I don't doubt your post Blue Poles. I would be thrilled to see Ed as our Captain or Vice.
One of my all time favorite Carlton players. Makes a huge difference to our team when he is playing.
I would go
Doch
Ed
Crippa ( only cos still so young)
Not Charlie(which won't happen anyway...not this time around at least)

Fantastic piece CK.
Spot on.
Doch, Ed and Crippa fit well with that.
Interesting .

Very good analysis, and no doubt Bolts has subscribed to the bloke's newsletter.

Also affirms my belief that Murph's not the bloke.

Yeah. Unlike in our federal politics, my vote is with the majority: Doc the next captain and Cripps his deputy for a handful of years, then he steers the Carlton ship next. They are our future and our next leaders.
And I hope it's in 2018 too.
