Ah, so you are pro-SSM after all!

I've come around on the club's statement. I accused it of being wishy-washy, sort of hinting at support for the Yes vote but without having the courage to say it. But on reflection, I think it was a reasonable statement to essentially say "we think Yes, but we're not going to tell anyone what to do".

Gee, man slightly changes opinion on the internet - do I win a medal?

I wish the Government or the AFL introduce a Law that would ban any Sporting Club from operating Poker Machines at their premises!!

OR at least for the public to Vote on it.....As much as I love Carlton, the club is responsible for ruining the lives of many gamblers who got hooked up to the Club and to their machines and have given up all their life savings!!

Pokies destroy Lives....

off topic but ^ +1

I support the Club's position, its not really the Club's business to advocate on this issue. Who/what would the Club "represent" if they came out and supported a "yes" vote. The Board? The Staff? The Players? The Members?. People in all of those groups will have differing views and an individual right to determine their own preference. The Club saying "yes" would not represent any of them, but what they said on equality was fine.

FWIW, I voted yes but I support the right of anyone to vote no if they choose to do so, as flawed as this whole non-compulsory poll is, media beat-ups, fake news, HS front page, blah blah blah ....

Clearly understand the Club's position it's a delicate and sensitive issue and according must be handed in a politically correct fashion.
It's unnatural for many and yet the marginals storm to be heard, so what's new.
There are vastly more important injustices in our world .
Let's move on we're in the business of wining a flag and that's the priority.

Very brave statement to come out with and actually reflects my own views as well.
Truly representative of another minority of people including gay people: those who sit on the fence on this issue and are unsure/not enrolled to vote yes or no in the first place.

"At Carlton, we live our values every day. We include everyone. We respect everyone and we take a strong stand on equality. But we are not going to sit here and tell people how to vote". Mark LoGiudice.

Sounds about right to me.

When many other countries have already legislated it?

And yet the AFL has a major sponsor in Etihad who's country has a law that it is illegal to be gay.

What has football become

How many votes does the club get?

Outrage for the sake of it

The Blues endeavoured to support all supporters by saying vote as you see fit

Why the @#$%&! should a football club embrace one side or other of a 2 sided NON football issue

I will vote yes

I don't want my club telling me or others how to vote

I want my club focussing on football

I want my club focussing on success

I want my club engaging with supporters and supporting them to vote as the supporter chooses

Leave the petty politics to Gillian and his mates at AFL HQ.
