Equality?

Gee.... I think we should all have the right to legally descriminate against minorities.....

Looks like the club thinks it has large numbers of "traditional" minded supporters.
Nothing statement.

Must have been a doozy of a discussion at the board table

Why would you say anything? Is anyone going to be swayed on how to vote by what their football club says?

Why would you say anything when you're not going to say anything, more to the point?

Our club is an embarrassment.

How does anyone know if the club hadn't been asked or approached on this.
They are correct it is an individual decision and companies / sporting bodies etc shouldn't be pressed either way on what their position is

What did the statement actually say.

It was better drafted for saying nothing than anything I have ever read from a politician and that is saying something.

I voted yes based on human rights and equality. Barely gave a thought to SSM.

I can see where the club are coming from.

Given the majority of the responses on the Club's Facebook page they seem to know their audience.

It's a better statement than the AFL one.

Places the decision back on the individual, whilst supporting the club's position on equality.

Well done

Agree.

I've never felt this way before but I think the only thing we can do is put our money where our mouth is. I've been an AFL Club Support member for about 15 years (counting me as a Carlton member) but I've sent an email to them asking how I can switch that to another club for a year, or to not be a Club Support member at all. I'll still attend, but this trainwreck of a club does not deserve any more than that.

Serious? ...and that's all because of the statement Carlton did and didn't make?

Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Trainwreck?
Mate we are heading in the right direction.....FOOTBALL.

The yes vote will win with or without AFL. I voted YES, because the issue is a societal issue...nothing to do with Football or CFC.

I like the statement... The Club can't vote.... But it cut through the sh!t and says, this is about equality.... Exactly what they should say.

I think it would be weird for the club to say 'I vote YES'
