This shit's gone on for years and has cost us so many games in that time (and will more yet).

Until we sort this out we aren't going anywhere. So what's the problem and how do we fix it?

Is it mental? Confidence? Poor coaching?

At least Casboult is kicking straight.
I we can only build a forward line around him we will be fine.

!. Improved Midfield delivery

....another preseason for increased output for SPS Cripps Fisher Cuningham Boekhurst...maybe one of Docherty Byrne or Williamson to be released into the midfield. Pick 1 or 2.

2. Forward pressure

....speed in forwardline ala 3 Amigos helps to keep ball in our forwardline...hopefully Pickett, Cunners Murphy spend time forward

3. Multi targets

....another preseason for McKay Silvagni Curnow Kerr...we wont be reliant on one Levi Casboult

I think its going to start happening next year just because of the above is within our grasp.

I'm hoping we also see additional leg speed in the midfield group from a great preseason and trade...Kelly, well Pickett, Cunners and SPS will help with that.

Did I read or hear somewhere that Murphy has only kicked 8 this year?

Plus at least five he's dribbled along the ground to a guy waiting in the goal square.

Not many for a hard running mid.

Perhaps we also need to look at goal assists, 1%ers etc to see the changing role Murphy has been playing this year. Goals attached to his name probably doesn't tell the complete picture.

He's never been a high scoring mid. Probably not his role either. Last two games have been good from him i think.

He's been playing more inside since Cripps (and Ed) went down.

Ok here goes. There's probably more holes in this than......I duno something with a lot of holes......Swiss cheese I guess......so feel free to tear it apart. No offence will be taken.

There were 5,336 goals kicked in the comp last year. With 4,660 so far this year we are on track for a total of 5,141. That's 195 less goals in total than last year or an average of 11 goals per team less. So it's safe to say across the comp teams are scoring less.

Carlton kicked 224 goals last season and have kicked 212 so far which extrapolates to a projected season total this year of 233.

So while the comp has kicked on average 11 goals less per club, we have in fact kicked 9 goals more.

What does that mean? Probably not much. Haha.
