Good to get some more senior experience into Pickett before the end of the year. Bit bummed about the outs though.

I think we're a reasonable chance this weekend.

gotta love that kind of optimism.
My head tells me we are going to get smashed.
My heart tells me that when we get smashed I will be all broken and sad and curled up and consumed with a kind of numb sobbing grief.

I'm not sure if we've gone Leopard or Centurion.

Scene-
Brendon Bolton's Office, Parkville. Friday 4 August. Noon. Bolts & SOS are waiting for someone. There's a knock on the door.

Bolts: Enter.
KJ: You wanted to see me boss?
Bolts: Sit down KJ.
KJ sits down
Bolts: I'll cut to the chase. You don't like me, and I don't like you. Never have. But SOS here is drawing up a new 3 year contract for you. Isn't that right SOS?
SOS: Yep.
Bolts: When do you reckon it will be ready SOS?
SOS: Oh, I'd say about 5pm on Saturday.
Bolts: And I've got more good news for you KJ. Big Kreuze won't get up for Saturday's game. You're in the team.
KJ: That's great. Thanks guys.
KJ rises to leave
Bolts: Not so fast KJ. Sit down.
KJ sits
Bolts: I haven't finished. There's a catch.
KJ: A catch?
Bolts: If Joe Daniher can walk off the ground when the final siren goes on Saturday, I've told SOS to rip the contract up. Do you understand?
KJ: I'm....not sure I....
Bolts: It's simple KJ. Show me you have what it takes to do what needs to be done. Otherwise, you can kiss your AFL career goodbye. If Joe spends the night in hospital, I might even tell SOS to add a zero or two. Do we understand each other?
KJ: But...
Bolts: DO WE UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER?!
KJ: Yes boss.
Bolts: Good. It's about time you learned readiness and got comfortable being uncomfortable.
Bolts smiles enigmaticly and stares off into the middle distance....

I have been to so many thrashings over the last 15 years just tossing up whether or not to go. Can always watch on the telly and flick if things get bad.

What are the thoughts out there?

I said in Round 3 that the real bravery didn't come from the Scum's "comeback".
It was those Blue Baggers who went to the match that day.
And not because of the rain. But because I thought we were going to get beaten by the then in-form and unbeaten Dopers' side, and us with no wins on the board.
I'm going to repeat this again this time. I'm just hoping we don't get beaten by more than 50 points.

Yeah that's my thoughts but 99.9% we get thrashed. Don't mind if it is anyone but the cheats.

I'm happy with the changes. Its disappointing to see Harry go out and Cuningham could benefit from more games but he was reasonably quiet last week. Williamson was possibly rushed back a bit IMO. He was understandably a bit tentative attacking the ball since he returned from injury and he has averaged 9 possessions over the past couple of weeks compared to the 16 possessions he averaged in his first month. A break will only benefit him. The kid has a big future.
White won't be a loss IMO.

The Bulldogs took Essendon* on with pace last week and it paid dividends. The ins will provide a bit of that pace. If we can play high tempo when we get the turnover and use Armfield and Pickett running back toward goal, it will give us plenty of opportunities to score. I know our midfield is thin but Essendons midfield are very average. Docherty to the midfield is a must this week IMO. He has shown an ability to win clearances when he gets an opportunity there.
Hoping for a good contest.

I remember that night....

Picked up at Tullamarine and head straight to the G.

Best mate tells me the further bad news...SOS out too.

Camporeale, kicks it out from FB to Hulmey, who handballs back to Campo, who finds Beaumont on the wing. Campo runs past for the handball ....

WE WON!!!!!

Anything can happen.

We have a huge injury list in a team which hasn't the depth to cover their First 22.

Pace of Pickett will be great for the club and his development...on the wet G.
Pace of Boekhurst will be helpful in these conditions..he has soooo much to play for.

So sad about McKay. Was hoping to get games into him for remainder of year.
I hope his Turf Toe isn't too serious, and comes up next week.

Really looking forward to watching our kids perform and grow:

SPS
Fish
Charlie
Weitering
Silvagni
Marchbank
Pickett

I always look forward to Carlton games, let alond Carlton vs Drug Cheats

They are good if you allow them to run it fast through the middle otherwise they are just ok.
I hope Bolton comes up with a way to frustrate them. Players behind the ball. Holding onto it when we have for long periods.

Problem is we have to win it at the source first and we don't really have the players.

Hopefully we can slow them up and have an honorable loss... if we can't have a win.

Whilst the selections aren't hugely inspiring, I can see what they're going for. I actually think it's a slightly better balanced side than last week, and I hope that holds us in good stead.

Thursday night if memory serves me correctly? The night before Good Friday?

I remember returning from school camp going straight to the G, one of the greatest H&A games I have witnessed in person.

Houlihan had a ripper as a young kid I think and Matty Lappin kicked an absolute bomb of a torpedo from about 80m out.

It was fun watching us when we could score goals and win games...
