The "ins" are pretty good. But Brisbanes record is pretty good against us.
Last week we were reactive and the focus seemed to be on getting the ball back off the opposition which is admirable but the primary focus has to be winning the ball first.
If we can re-address the balance, we're a good chance to win. Blues by between 10-20 if we can win the clearances.

I'm not claiming any credit for a players progression. In fact, I'm saying how I didn't see it coming at all.
Most junior coaches who have coached for a number of years and have coached rep footy will see a lot of players go on to higher level footy.
I was just putting some context to the post, not trying to take any credit.

I'll take a guess then. Was it Liam Picken?

Man, if I saw Liam Picken playing against 13 or 14 year olds when he was 22 and not dominating I'd probably think the same as Blue Vain.

Their midfield is a mile better than ours. It's going to be a hard slog.
I'm hoping we can rebound off half back if they win the clearances.
Jones to Hipwood will be interesting.
I imagine Weitering will go to Schache. IIR he killed him last time playing free flowing intercept footy. He isn't playing as well as he was last year and neither is Schache so it might be an interesting battle.
It's one of those games we might have to win from fewer F50 entries.

Good luck to Harry and I hope we see the emergence of Curnow as a midfielder.

Nothing in it.

Drop this game and we may see ourselves staining another wooden spoon after round 23 as I can't see us winning another game for the rest of the season.

Getting the ball back in the defensive 50 seems to have been our main modus operandi for the 2 years under Bolton fmpov. Understandable given our shallow midfield depth.

If we win a game without Cripps, Bolts is a miracle worker

hey em! howya doin'?

watching the magnificent game against cheats I want to note the importance of 1 E. Curnow.
major loss for us, as well as Rowe, and Weiters was firing very well, but that was the match he got a bad knock in the head. Williamson and Plowman were fantastic also in that game apart from Cripps.
Williamson back today, and Plowman is the next Simmo for being underrated long term I reckon.
Doing ok despite all the losses atm.

We need to respect brisbane , but I would like to see us take on the game more today , Brisbane haven't got the best defence going around so I think it's an opportunity for bolts to give the guys a release , a win would be great for there confidence , we need to take advantage of these games when we get them because atm there aren't many of them, GO BLUES

Don't worry North are tanking. We'll be right.

A smart Wright and Daisy could rattle their defence, assuming we get it in quickly... Well see

Thats more about our structures between the arcs Rexy. We play 5 or sometimes 4 forwards and the extra defenders rely on forward and midfield pressure.
As a rule, our ball winning been pretty good but a minor change of focus was noticeable last week. As it occasionally happens, when a team has a week of poor or broken tackles, the focus goes onto tackling intensity and the players can often forget the primary intent is winning the contested ball instead of taking it off the opposition. It's only a minor change of mindset.
Mickstar posted similar observations as well. Structurally we can place numbers behind the ball but the primary intent of any team has to be winning the footy first.
