If they tag Simmo, Doc and BB.
They can't tag both as well as Murphy/Gibbs and Cripps.

We are getting to the stage where the talent pool is such that choking off one player won't affect the team so much.

I am thinking they are morel likely to tag Gibbs than anybody else. They can't just let him run riot. His skill level with ball in hand is too high.

Couldn't agree more

It means Cripps and Murphy run rampant.

Maybe Ciaran Byrne for Williamson?

Probably needs a few more games for fitness in the reserves.

I do think we need to bring in some more run particularly in defence or someone who can free up a runner to go back into defence. The problem is who to drop (or rest) and who to bring in. Williamson is out with his back, but he is a runner in any event. Perhaps give Marchbank, Weitering or Plowman the freshen up week off. My choice would be Marchbank, even though he has done nothing wrong, albeit Weitering was much quieter than him last week but I think Weitering forward again this week, Marchbank rested, Williamson injured and 2 runners brought in is probably the mix. Then the next week against Adelaide Marchbank back to deal with their taller forward structure.

The next part of he puzzle is who to bring in. Two runners so that we can structure up a more mobile defence to cover their 1 tall structure up forward. Options:

Smedts - rested last week so would be fresh, has played in defence but not with success - maybe
Sumner - out with injury last week, prior to that not setting the world on fire but genuine pace, listed as "test" - maybe if fit
Sheehan - would require an upgrade onto the main list - unlikely
Buckley - not setting the world on fire in the 2s but has pace and plays back - maybe
Armfield - pretty ordinary form in the 2s but still lightning quick and can play fwd back or on ball - maybe if match committee prepared to overlook form for type
Polson - good once moved into a run-with role last week, previous weeks has looked good - maybe
Pickett - showed something last week, lightning pace, question if enough match fitness ATM - maybe
Byrne - just the man if match committee think 2 runs in Northern colors is enough - maybe

Which of these is a stab in the dark, but I'd pass on Smedts (looking for more pace), Sumner (if fit run him in the 2s), Sheehan (why commit to him as upgrade and how?), Byrne (just think he needs more runs in the 2s), Armfield (form in 2s no where near it), leaving it down to 2 from the trio Polson, Pickett and Buckley. Just on the basis of the least experienced of the three I'd pass on Polson.

So for me OUT Wiliamson (inj) Marchbank (rested) IN Buckley (last chance saloon) Pickett (speed machine).

With Williamson out the backline is:

Plowman - Jones - Marchbank
Docherty - Weitering - Simpson

Which is a very solid line-up, if somewhat tall for the otherwise small Tigers forward line.

Based on the VFL game on the weekend:

If they want a small defender: Buckley.
If they want to add to the midfield rotation: Graham / Palmer
If they want to add to the forward-line: Pickett

Jaksch could come in if they wanted to add a swingman.

Unless Sumner recovers, then I'd expect them to pick him again, seeing as he was only an out due to injury.

Macreadie? ?

Macreadie was rubbish on the weekend. I've also sold-out Smedts. He was the travelling emergeny, so he must be next in line...

Big wrap from Fraser...

60. Jarrod Pickett
Stats: 17 disposals, 5 tackles, 3 inside 50s, 2 goals
From the coach: I think it was his best game for the club, certainly at VFL level. He was really exciting when he was near it, played game time on the wing which was great for him and he covered the ground as good as he has. He kicked two crucial goals as well. - See more at: http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/2017-0 ... tgS25.dpuf

Richmond has included veteran ruckman Ivan Maric in its 25-man squad for Sunday’s match against Carlton at the MCG.

Maric, 31, last played senior football with the Tigers in their Round 15, 2016 loss to Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

That was one of just three AFL appearances Maric made last year.

He has come back into the frame for senior selection after being a consistently valuable contributor in the ruck for Richmond’s VFL team throughout this season.

The Tigers also have added talented young pair Ben Lennon and Oleg Markov to their squad for the Round 14 clash with the Blues.

Lennon, 21, hasn’t played at senior level since the Round 3 victory over West Coast this season.

Markov, 21, made his last senior appearance in the Round 8 loss to Fremantle.

Richmond will finalise its line-up tomorrow (Friday) afternoon.

Be there this Sunday afternoon when we host the Blues at the MCG

This will be an interesting game. We have been up for a while now. Wondering if Tigers will put time into Docherty and Simpson after all the media attention on the pair this week.

Still think Tigers will be too strong and win by 4 or 5 goals. I also said that about GWS and Suns, so who knows.

Go Blues!

Not really. We've been up for 2 weeks. Before that we were coming off a bye and 3 losses

When I saw the Ins my first thought was that Smedts would be the one to play since he can play off half-back (as well as other roles) but given the rap that Pickett received for his VFL performance I am inclined to change to him being the one.

Looking forward to the game no matter who ends up playing.

There has a bit of talk around this afternoon that he may not play.
Huge loss if true.
