Firstly, I just want to start this by saying I hate you for making me feel a need to defend a Carlton player. Ewwww. Gross!

Secondly, no. They're not the only things sledges shouldn't touch.

Like many I enjoy players sledges if they're funny and/or clever. But what Carlisle said was neither. It was low, and it was cheap and by all accounts not even true. He used a wife of a player to try and gain an edge. This is not acceptable. There needs to be a line that isn't crossed by decent men playing a game of sport. Surely. We've moved into an age where respect of women is a given. Surely.

What Carlisle said cannot and should not ever be accepted as just casual sledging. These players need to know it's not ok.

Now, had the sledge been about Murphy being a soft bitch and weak captain, I'd have no issue.....

Alan Richardson on AFL 360 could barely apologise or admit they'd done something wrong.
The best he could do was repeat the phrase..."we didn't quite get it right" about half a dozen times. And he also referred to the sledging as ... a 'couple' of things that were said.
He did however manage to say how proud he was of his playing group to stick up for Carlisle and rally round him like they did.
Pathetic.

His version was a far cry from Caro's on FC who said there was a torrent of vile, pornographic sledging about Murph's wife throughout the game.

Got a feeling Murphy will cop Goodes type treatment from opposition fans for the rest of the year. Reading some of the comments on social media reaffirms to me that many footy fans are bogans or similar, living in a bygone era.

He has every right to be upset and that junkie is weapons grade flog, but the media love this shit and have blown it up to a point that I'm sure Marc and his family did not want.

Of course the AFL has made a stand against vilifying the drug cheats, one of whom was Carlisle.

StK should suspend Carlisle over the re-tweet or the AFL should do it.

The problem with all this is that the longer it goes, the worse it is for Murphy's wife.

Murph might cop the booing every tome he steps on the field. I am sure he can cope with it but we have to make sure Carlisle gets it as well.
