Happy tonight after having beaten our traditional rivals.

Particularly relieved to have beaten the self-entitled deluded drug-cheating scumbags who easily overtook Collingwood as most hated team about 17 years ago, and confirmed their status around 5 years ago and have done nothing since to improve their lowly slinking and have actually managed to make Collingwood look attractive by comparison, and that's saying something.

Happy birthday, Collingwood. At least you're not Essendon*.

Listen up young ones.
This elation we all feel tonight is because there is something special about the Carl Coll rivalry, born of our long history
Enjoy and savour

Have said similar before, but this is stuff the AFL cannot manufacture.

No rivalry round, no heritage round, no commemorative armbands or marketing groups can create true footy rivalries.

Only history can create rivalries. True rivalries built on hatred, begrudging respect, or bitter memories.

When I saw the bulldogs v Giants trotted out as a new bitter rivalry last week, I just giggled. Rivalry? Really?

"Watch next Saturday. You'll see a rivalry. "

I thinks to myself

Bulldogs and Giants as rivals? ROFL.
Because of a PRELIMINARY FINAL they're bitter rivals. :garthp:
FMD. Giants have done nothing to make rivals with anyone apart from their neighbours. Possibly in 100 years they'll have other "bitter rivals"; but my god not right now.

Guys the Bulldogs-Giants rivalry is special because it's Greater Western Sydney vs. Western Bulldogs. Think of the marketing opportunites! Guns drawn at 20 paces! Stupid hats! Money Money Money!!!

About Coll...:
- Bucks will not be coach next year. He will announce this himself in the next couple of months and will probably do the Tony Shaw thing until the end of the year (when Coll will undoubtedly start winning and then questions will be asked about "why now"...). Questions will have been asked about him turning over a young, premiership-winning list and then proceeding to fall consistently down the ladder...

- They now have a good list of young players but too many players float in and out of games, leaving the heavy lifting to too few. Similar problem they overcame 2010-11 when all their 'shitty little small forwards' became tough, four quarter contributors with strong work ethic and manic tackling...

- Darcy Moore will become their best best player and top 10 in the comp, once they let him run around following the ball rather than leading towards it

- Once they decided to turnover the list, they made some good trading moves to get players and picks but not enough of the recruits has worked out to date: Matt Scharenberg & Nathan Freeman injuries, Treloar - not convinced he is the player worth spending all that money on. Very good but not worth the price. I think Taylor Adams, Hoskin-Elliot, Greenwood good pick-ups; Chris Mayne and Jesse White WTF? Daniel Wells good player fills a need but only for a couple of years in a rebuilding team... ok, but a bit weird.

It was awesome beating them, again. But they should rise as we do over the next few years with a good coach.

For people at the ground, what estimates on the crowd make-up. I would have had it as almost 50-50, which is strange given it was a Filth home game and their birthday party.
If anything, the Carlton cheers were louder.

Belated birthday wishes to the Pies also.

Really?
There's a heap of coaching assistants and apprentices, not to mention ex-coaches who could be good for them (or current coaches who might be lured away...):

Ex's & current coaches:
- Paul Roos (wouldn't be my choice but everyone else seems to think he is awesome and gettable...)
- Clarkson
- Brad Scott
- Ratten (hehe...)
- Michael Voss
- Matthew Knights
- Brenton Sanderson (current assistant at Coll)
- Guy McKenna
- Brendan McCartney

Current assistants:
- Scott Burns (current assistant at Coll)
- Simon Lloyd
- John Barker
- Nathan Bassett
- Stuart Dew

And that's only those I know about... I didn't really know about Don Pyke, Chris Fagan nor Luke Beveridge when he was appointed.

Of those, I reckon the initial favourites would be, assuming Clarkson is not available:
- Roos - unlikely (why spoil a great reputation...?)
- Burns
- Dew
- Brad Scott
- Caracella

I've been a fan of Buckleys football knowledge. He discusses the game well, I like listening to his thoughts on the game and his commitment can't be questioned but he was very poor on Saturday. Most critics claim he is inflexible and unable to accept constructive feedback or criticism.
That was evident on the weekend.

Our structure and defensive mechanisms stood out like white balls on a black dog compared to the Pies. Their patterns of ball movement were overly risky in the conditions and it appears that the players are becoming frustrated with the lack of direction.
Their efforts to minimise our strengths were non existent which is either stubborn, arrogant or inept. He finished his own career on the weekend IMO.

For the sake of their own careers and possible future success, I suspect the players will be glad to see the back of him.
