Hugely disappointed in our senior players. Hugely impressed with our youngsters. |

Bad turnovers from Murph and Smedts led to goals. Kills you every time as does butchering it going inside fwd 50. Lots to like and expected to lose but reckon our back 6 was pretty good. Cripps immense. Bring on the drug cheats. |

For me, apart from shocking turnovers at times, it was much better. We were always outnumbered and never looked like taking a pack mark in F50 (apart from casbolt and thomas ones). they just waited for us to turn it over at the f50 and bounced it back for all one on ones, with their forwards looking much more dangerous. Cripps lifted, kruze battled hard, Plow, Marchbank and weltering did well. Gibbs did better as the game went on. Smedts didn't really seem to do much - but may just have missed him, pickett quiet, charlie falling way below pre season expectations. Wright impressively accurate. Ed battled well i thought. Another 2 mids and more from our forwards.... |

I get scared when we have the ball. When you get it 250 times a games that's alot of stress. Our disposal, decision making etc, lost it for us alot more so than Melbourne won it. |

Lots to like especially from the youngsters. Also lots to hate, mainly from the senior players. That's our lot right now. Have too many that butcher the ball. Horrible turnovers that cost goals killed us. Not convinced we work as hard as we should either. In the end, we should be filthy we didn't pinch that. Which is progress in itself. Armfield White and Cas surely on their last legs? |

Some really good signs from our youngsters, strange game in the sense our better players were our youngsters. Murphy had a shocker. |

Very similar pattern to last week.....slow start.....not much pressure (low tackle count).....good 3rd Q with pressure increased....then faded without a whimper last half of the last. Our senior guys are not up to it, or at least on this year's form. It's the kids who are showing something. Not sure Charlie C is up to it yet. Low posies 2 weeks in a row and no tackles. Drop him back to VFL to find the footy. Hopefully the GC will get their arse in gear and Freo win enough home games to give us the Spoon. |

Great team effort to hit the front! Can't blame Bolton for: Murphy turnover goal Smedts turnover goal Simpsons broken tackle goal Plowmans broken tackle goal Docherty caught free goal ...and that's just in the last 15 minutes Thomas turnover goal Docherty turnover goal Curnows turnover goal etc etc...you get it. Turnovers kills us. I have to say for the first time... Murphy is a disappointing captain TBH. I couldn't believe I said that. Lacked poise. Lacked confidence to take them on. Didn't break lines instead took easy option backwards Didn't go in when it counted. The problem is not Bolton. Wasn't Bolton's fault when: Sammo couldn't chase anymore Simmo couldn't keep up the chase Silvagni couldn't jump Charlie couldn't go on with it. I could go on. Delivery was a problem Was a valiant effort, a t wasn't the kids. Thomas tried hard, but he's not the future. Rowe Marchbank Plowman Docherty were great in defence. We need to find replacements NEXT YEAR for: Simpson...maybe...coz he surprised me last year White Thomas Casboult Armfield Smedts and maybe Kreuzer as a FA who fought well in 2nd half but got a spanking in the first half. Oh well. I guess the point is, the players turned it over not the coach |

I hope by the end of the year Casboult, Armfield, Thomas and White have been replaced. I think the whole side shudders when they have the ball. |

Anyway, play McKay forward with Weitering and leave Levi to focus on the 2nd ruck role. He took 8-9 marks despite that awful 3rd qtr. He's just not a natural forward. Doesn't run, lead or know where to position himself. Just a contested marking ruck type, something more suited to his abilities. Thing is we need more midfield run so we can get one outs in the F50. Then we might kick a few goals. |

-Cripps the most clearances and contested possessions on the ground -Pretty good game from Murphy except that poor kick on his left -Marchbank and Macreadie good -Wright excellent finishing -Curnow a good tag on Lewis -Glimpses from SPS and Pickett Still the wrong matchups down back. Plowman on Petracca and Petracca finishes with 9 marks. Too mobile for him. |

Momentun is everything. Jack Silvagni will play a lot of footy for us but if he isn't getting a lot of it, he has to take his chances. He misses from 40 out dif which would have put us about 15 in front. It goes down the other end and we get the Murphy turnover and instead of 15 points it's 4. We did everything to win the game and then did everything to lose it in the last. I thought we might get up at one stage which was more than I had thought mid week. People bagging Smedts. He had a big first quarter when we were watching the opposition run away with the footy. He will be better for the run. McReadie has to stay in. He is built like a stick but looks like he will make it. Marchbank is a real find. SPS had another ordinary game even though after he kicked that goal he had a little patch. He will be better for the run. Pickett goes OK and will be better for the run Weitering carries a lot of expectations on his shoulders. Courageous player. Charlie doesn't look ready yet. Cripps was the player their coach was worried about at half time and right on cue gets poleaxed by Lewis. There has to be weeks in that as there should be for the left jab from Hogan. Both Carlton players went to ground and stayed there so there can be no question of lack of force. Simmo quiet again. Plowman will make it. I was disappointed to lose in the end so I must be pleased overall with the performance. I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall after the game and listen to Bolton with the players. He wasn't happy with a lot of that last quarter with reason. We are a chance next week. |
