According to the HUN our official picks for the draft are 3, 10, 30, 72, 95 and 96.
Surely we use those later picks on a DFA or either young Hickmott or Penrith.

AFL website as of a few days ago still saying we have these picks.
I would assume from this that Alex Silvagni is still on the rookie list.

Don't the upgrades still take place at the draft?

We need a combined primary list and rookie list squad of 44 players - excluding category B rookies (with min. 38 and max. 40 on primary list). We currently have 34 on the primary list and 3 on the rookie list. I suspect we’ll go with a 38/6 split, as we had done in 2015/16 seasons. This means we won’t use picks 95 or 96 and will take 3 live picks into the rookie draft. It also enables us to upgrade 2 players from the rookie list as required next year.

No such thing as upgrading rookies anymore. They can all play anytime.

Tomorrow's the big day. Hanging out to watch it unfold on the AFL livestream if it works.
And why can't the Vic Govt do this to PP?

Madness??????

They're gonna knock down an 18 year old stadium that nobody likes going to because it's 50min outside of the CBD only to build another new stadium on the exact same site?

Complete waste of taxpayer money. Should go to public transport.

$2 billion would go a long way to improving trains/metro here in Sydney or improving access to the airport which is horrendous at present.

It is hard to get your head around such a waste

surely the afl scrap rookie lists and just go 44 on each list and be done with it

I think the only difference now is their pay. Rookies are still on lower salaries.

Staggering and a total architectural fail.

Etihad Stadium in Melbourne won’t be far behind - the AFL won’t be able to resist the temptation of $1billion sale price, before the Melbourne property market caves in.

They will flog it and cite that it’s no longer state of the art, too small etc.

Someone is going to fund a new stadium at the old Footscray Whoelsale Vegetable Market site.

With Cripps and Ed back, and with Kennedy and Dow coming in, surely we've got to become a lot better at clearances next year.

After tonight's draft we now have 39 senior players on the list.
Wonder if we will go with an extra rookie or use a pick in the PSD on Monday.

This.

Murphy, Cuningham, SPS, Fisher, Lang, Pickett, O'Brien, Garlett, Polson... looks like some good outside run, carry and skill to complement that quartet. Very exciting times ahead. Hopefully Kerridge and Graham are left to dominate in the VFL all year and mentor the young guys.

Was it just coincidence going after all the Bendigo lads, or is there method to it?

From a nostalgic point, Bendigo was Carlton's recruitment zone pre draft days.
