If he keeps up his form, he'll attract decent offers. How many clubs currently have a second ruckman that can contribute in the forward line? Not many.

You don't think we may need one of those - or are we eyeing off a better one somewhere out there?

We need one of those but not for 2 years. We need one for the next 5-10 years.

This should be the year we take advantage of free agency before we chase a free agent.
I love Kruezer but if he gets a juicy offer from elsewhere and we receive quality compensation, we should take it.
If Kreuz continues his form, he'll be in the top 3 ruckman at the end of year. What would you pay him if you were a Bulldogs or Sydney?
The same with Casboult. If he gets an offer from a club unable to find an effective second ruck/marking forward (and there are plenty of clubs grappling with this combination), would you happily let him walk?

This is the year we want to utilise free agency offloads. We're lower on the ladder so compensation will be better. It also allows us to look at free agency acquisitions next year without compromising compensation.
Thats why I don't understand the angst about Casboult putting off contract talks. We don't really want to keep him if he's of value elsewhere and he knows it

That's a great argument for trading those big boys. Love it.

I hope people remember and we learned from the Betts Thomas FA season when we got nothing for Betts.

You would think that with Schache re-signing with Lions today that his main suitors in Richmond and Collingwood might become a bit more desperate for Casboult. IMO Casboult's contract value to other clubs increased today.

Correct. This is great news (IF Casboult's papers are stamped, and we want to maximise return).

I wouldn't rule out GWS in a trade I.e. Player swap. For Kreuzer. Josh Kelly play?

Maybe Casboult's manager just wants to put off contract talks till the end of the year and there is nothing sinister about it at all.
He is punting Levi's value will increase as the year goes on and he will be able to get more money here or elsewhere.
If he isn't doing that he isn't doing his best for his client.
Of course if Levi falls in a hole or breaks his leg it all changes.
That's the downside of it as far as Levi is concerned.
If he stays it will be because SOS thinks he is worth something. If he goes it will be because he doesn't think he is worth what his management is asking. That may or may not be affected by offers from elsewhere.
If Levi does go, however, we will have to make sure McKay comes on or we will have to pay through the nose for some proven performer and history tells us that is going to cost us seven figures. That's the punt from SOS's viewpoint.

Not great. Selfish and lazy. Expects it all to happen for him because his name is Silvagni. A chance we might rookie list him though if there's nothing better available
