Much better outcome than a dislocation or ligament damage.

Patrick Cripps has fractured his fibula. Out for season. Won't require surgery. Back for start of pre-season. White to get further scans.

Carlton’s Patrick Cripps will miss the remainder of the season after scans on Monday confirmed a fractured fibula.

The 22-year-old was sidelined in the second quarter of the Blues’ clash with Melbourne on Sunday afternoon, and took no further part in the game.

“Unfortunately, scans have revealed a fractured left fibula, but the good news from a medical perspective is Patrick won’t require surgery,” Head of Football Andrew McKay said.

“It would usually be approximately a six-week injury which, given the timing, takes us through to the end of the season. It’s obviously very disappointing for both Patrick and the Club, but he will make a full recovery well before the start of the 2018 pre-season campaign.

Any updates on the injury to Byrne?

The Blues have some injury concerns after suffering several injuries in the last quarter of their loss to the Bulldogs.

Alex Silvagni (knee), Dylan Buckley (ankle) and Ciaran Byrne (adductor) were all off the ground midway through the last quarter, leaving the Blues with just one rotation on the bench...

AFL 2017 Round 17 - Carlton v Western Bulldogs

Alex Silvagni will miss a month

TEAMS: Roos ruck rolled, Gazza hamstrung

CARLTON defender Alex Silvagni will be sidelined for four weeks with bone bruising in his knee, while first-year forward Patrick Kerr has been booked in for season-ending hip surgery.

Silvagni landed awkwardly on his knee against the Bulldogs last Sunday, in his first game back since injuring the same knee early in the Blues' round 13 win over Greater Western Sydney.

The former Docker had scans early this week before consulting a specialist on Wednesday.

A Blues spokesman told AFL.com.au Silvagni had escaped with no more than bone bruising, but was expected to miss the next four rounds.

Kerr also consulted a specialist on Wednesday after missing the Northern Blues' VFL game last weekend. The key forward will undergo hip surgery next week, but is expected to be fit in time for day one of 2018 pre-season training.

Ciaran Byrne was ruled out of the Blues' team for Sunday's clash against the Brisbane Lions after straining an adductor against the Bulldogs, but the defender is only expected to miss one week.

Dylan Buckley (hamstring) was also injured against the Bulldogs and will miss up to three weeks.

However, Dale Thomas, a late withdrawal from the Bulldogs game with calf tightness, was named in Carlton's round 18 team.

Ed Curnow out for another 4 weeks. Dusty must have got him a good one.
I read on another site that Ed had a fracture in his larynx so this could possibly be the case.

It is strange that the media hasn't brought this up. I wonder if Ed had been a high profile player it would have got a bit more attention.
