Given the amount of R1 draft pick quality on the list now and the solid defence that was developed this season, I'd expect around 10 wins if we have a good run with injuries.
I don't think that's unreasonable.

Thoughts...?

Beat Essendon* twice is all I expect (hope).

I expect St Killda to make the eight.

If Murphy, Gibbs and Cripps stay on the park I think we might exceed expectations.
Midfield depth the main issue.

Reckon Palmer will compliment that trio superbly..................reckon Silvagni and Charlie are the keys myself. If theyy step up and prove to be genuinly quality forwards then it will be huge.

Add in upside if we get full preseasons into plowman, marchbank, sumner, Cunningham, Harry and Pickett

.....and who knows - we use 5,25 as well as we used 1,12 and 23 last year..

Wow....might even win the flag next year

Bottom 4. But competitive.

Hopefully a % above 95% which means we are always a challenging team to play, week in week out.

Backline coming together. Now for Curnow, McKay and Silvagni to make progress together as a forward unit.

Midfield outside runners lacking so will have to set up from the half back line and drive it forward from there.

Signed up again and think we are at least attempting to build the right way. Trigg/Bolton/SOS not taking shortcuts in my opinion.

I don't expect to make the 8. However I will be disappointed if we finish below where we did this year.

8 - 10 wins should be the bar set.

Goal Scoring:-
I said last year that more goals need to come from our midfield and I would expect the likes of Murphy, Gibbs and Cripps to be kicking close to 20 goals each.
Gibbs went on to kick 18 and Murphy was on track with 10 before he got injured.

Levi, as a very minimum, needs to kick 30+ goals or else just cut him loose.

More games into the kids:-

Was very happy the club gave opportunities to SOJ. He earnt it and he flourished when he played. Would like to see more games given to Curnow & Cunningham etc etc.

Centre Clearances:-

We were Dead-Last for centre clearances last year. Even the likes of Fremantle, Essendon* and the Gold Coast beat us at Centre Clearances. We were dead last for hit-outs too. It goes hand-in-hand and we need to improve.

Don't Play Dale Thomas!!!!!

If the rumours are true and he can trigger a clause in his contract that will see him extended through till the 2018 season then just don't play the bastard at all. He's no good and is past it. Would prefer to play somebody else in his role.
Don't get me wrong, it's not his fault we were stupid and offered him a ridiculous contract but enough is enough.

I agree. Although it's pretty hard to get a percentage that high if you finish bottom 4. And yet I haven't been as excited about the direction of the club for about 20 years.

We'll win more games, if Murphy, Gibbs and Cripps get through the year unscathed. Less if they don't. But I agree we're certainly on the right path. Even before the draft our talent levels are way ahead of where they've been for a while. But we simply need to get games into our youngsters before we can expect to consistently win. Also pretty hard to win games when Wright and Palmer are a fair chance of winning your goalkicking.

Also nice to go into the draft with real confidence about what will be delivered.

Hey London we have plenty improvement already on this year.

Murphy is back.

Palmer Smedts Marchbank and Pickett are best 22 players, and we lose Tuohy.
We have Armfield, Simpson, Smedts, plus others, even Buckley to cover his loss.

We don't have to play all of Rowe White Philips Kreuzer Casboult or McKay.
We can drop 2-3 injuries pending.

But the point is those 2016 players are depth in 2017, let alone Gorringe Jaksch and Jones.

Not going to happen but I'd love a new captain.

Maybe Docherty in 2018.

Let Murph concentrate on his footy and not have to deal with being the public face of the club (which is clearly not his bag).

There's a major transition happening at the club and a new captain would add to that sense.

and for those reasons I think we will improve our goal kicking and improve our grunt in the mid for 100 minutes.

Pickett Cuningham Boekhurst let alone Murphy for outside speed.

Bring them on.

Best I've felt since the genesis of the Pratt-Judd era.

I think its important to allow Murphy to decide on that, unless those on the inside and on the pulse sense its that time for tha change for the better.

Murphy is current. Docherty or Cripps or Weitering are definitely the future. 2017 is the future. You could be right.
