As one of our old friends would say

"Make no mistake, GWS are a VERY good football side"

We definitely need mids and flankers that get more of the ball.

I think GWS's list is clearly the best in the comp. The only thing going against them is the lack of supporters, culture and the fact that most (or all) of their players would rather be playing elsewhere if not for the money on offer.

I thought we did well to stop their run off halfback. Wilson and Shaw were almost invisible. But they just chopped us through the middle - better players. 21 of the blokes out there busted their asses but just weren't up to it. This would have been a 20 goal destroyation last year. Also thought Plowman and Rowe were really good down back and Gibbs worked hard to get into the game. But class prevails.

Looking forward to next week.

Yep I agree.
Good effort from Carlton and I don't think any other side in the comp is capable of beating GWS at home. (unless they have an off day)

I didn't expect much from today and only saw fifteen minutes.

But do GWS get Eagles' style home umpiring?

I'm not one for piling on the umps. But they did seem to get a pretty good run of it. Both calls and non calls. But thems the breaks.

I'm tired of losing to advertising icons, at what stage do the AFL just sit back with a chubby and let the game go

Their ground fleet are pretty special. They knew they just had to bomb it forward and if it but the ground 9/10 times they would get an easy clearance.

We had a go for a while but we had no answer and the flood rates were always going to open.

Out lateral movement has stopped. A bit of old malthouse, wing play crept in. Kick up to the wings kick back, kick to same wing again, bomb it forward. You could see that the switch of play or the corridor is not instinct anymore. We have to get back to that.

We need Murphy back asap, we need some pace. Seeing the game live, Kerridge is terribly slow. We also need some variety up forward. Silvagni will be a revelation, I have no doubt about that. Walker was pretty good tonight, but our forward line lacks spark.

Let's hope we are Silvagni, McKay, and Curnow all getting some game time over the next few months.

Didn't expect to win but pretty disappointed in the end. Lucky they didn't kick straight, could've been uglier.

Biggest concern is that's 3 games in a row now where our pressure and effort hasn't been there or at least not for long enough.

Had no flow or run going forward and could not generate repeat inside 50's. They just streamed out of D50 with no pressure.

Haven't lived up to the standards set in the Geel and Port games. Need desperately to rediscover that hunger, pressure and effort. Otherwise we will struggle to get any more wins this year.

Really though, it was a 40 point loss pushed out to a 10 goaler in Eddie time when the game was done. They are 3rd with a bullet and we are 12th. At least we had a dip.

We were well beaten by a far better side, but we did miss a few frees for us that should have been paid and got a few soft ones against us. Even when we got a 50m penalty it looked a bit light on to me..... the one where a Giants player was too close to the goal square when we were kicking out. The ump rightfully awarded a 50 but then proceeded to take the mark to the 50m line. Correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't the mark have been the length of the goal square past the 50m line?

If it was the cheat umpire number 15 Matt Nicholls then I'm not correcting you.

Went to Spotless for the first time. Nice laid back stadium, reminded me of the old suburban grounds of Melbourne in the 80s. The AFL's desperation to win WS hearts and minds is palpable: official attendance was 10,000. I went with sister in law, nephew and 2 nieces, but we had 17 - yes, 17 - tickets between us, all free. Would've scalped the remaining 12 for a cup of hot chips but chances are no one else in the crowd had paid for their tickets either.

Anyway, thought we did all right for three quarters, fortunately my niece wanted to play kick-to-kick on the concourse in the last and I was freezing my arse off sitting down, so I missed the capitulation. Everitt's lack of toughness is glaring at close quarters, while Cripps looks like a @#$%&! beast.

Stayed in the game for 3 qtrs although guess mostly because of their bad kicking for goal.
Thought effort was better then that against the Saints.
Walks did ok. So did Gibbs, Plow, Rowe, Weiters and Cripps
Levi will never be what we desperately wish he would be.
Another average game by Kreuz. Reckon injury has ruined him.
Need to inject more youth into the team. No use always going back to the well with players like Tutt.
Hated that we kept fading away late in terms, and capitulated in the last.
Expected this so not disappointed. SOJ needs to come in next week. Only way we'll get a decent crowd on Saturday night against the Filth.

GWS don't need defensive rebound from a couple of blokes if we kick it 35 m straight into a tight zone the first chance we get forward of centre.

Not enough effort put in to switch the ball, and had a party with all the scores from turnovers. 14 goal assists to 5 is a damning disparity as well.
