Cats will be more than a bit annoyed after today, so expect another lesson.

Wood needs to come in (even if it's to rip Selwood's head off again and smash him into the turf when he drops his knees and ducks). Need a similar contested mark to Casboult up forward. That's one of Jaksch's strengths and he does kick straight. Might end Rowe back to defence.

We learned how much we missed Casboult and Kreuzer. We get frustrated at Casboult's goalkicking but it's much better to be able to take a mark and have the chance at goal then be a straighter kick but not get it at all.

Cats and Hawks at the dome is traditional 'Get screwed by umpires' round for the Blues. This will be another tough week with our outs, but always good to see how we go. Expect nothing and hopefully get something. A lot better than previous years where we expected nothing and barely got that! I'll be going and just watching one or two players. Recently players, like Byrne, have made the game very enjoyable to watch.

If we had a ruckman against Norf the result would have been much closer. Goldstein must have thought it was his birthday as he kept ramming the ball down his midfielders throats.
If Everitt doesn't want to put the work in he can go for a younger player who is.
While neither Armfield or Lamb are playing badly if Boekhorst is fit he should be in the side. Better kick than either and just as fast as Armfield with better skills and faster than Lamb.

IMHO.

Jesus.

Armfield does everything right since his return but we get smashed in the ruck and it he's the guy who pays the price.

Less ticker than either and lacks endurance. Give him the skill edge and pace on Lamb, not sure he has Army matched on pace when Army lights it up. Army also has versatility on his side. Jed might be at risk of going out, surely not Armfield.

Armfield is the new Rowe.

gorringe needs to stay in for a number of reasons
we need to learn how to play to the dominate ruck
he needs multiple games for experience and confidence and will be better for the time in the middle, it's up to his coaches and his ream mates to recognise his position and to help him and the team
right now we are a team that ais in transition and we need our young players to get as much experience as possible
we and gorringe are in a position right now under our circumstances to get that experience without rushing back to the safe limiting saving position and stifling our future growth again

I'd agree with you about Gorringe on sheer talent alone. Even last night he did some things that made me go 'Wow'. Problem is he looks a mile off the intensity and aggression he's going to need to play senior footy. I'm not sure if or how you can develop that in a player. Unless it's confidence related.

Rest sore players if needed, and look ahead to the following two weeks.

Out: White, Everitt
In: Jaksch, Wood

Touhy Rowe Weitering
Docherty Plowman Byrne
Gibbs Cripps Simpson
Kerridge Jaksch Thomas
Gorridge Jones Sumner
Wood Curnow Murphy
Walker Wright Lamb Armfield

Rowe to go back. Needed for Hawkins and was terrible, terrible forward. Lucky to survive.
Wood needs to come in and Gorridge to play forward/ruck. Give him a chance for 2 weeks.
KP, gut busting, goal kicking Everitt to make way for Jaksch. Mr invisible, when pressure is applied needs a rest. Body battered and bruised.

I'm starting to worry about Barker and our midfield setups, etc. I like Barker but there is a trend emerging when he is in charge as a line coach. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Jaksch is a must next week due his his strong, contested marking. Closest we have to Casboult in that regard and can kick straight. One of Everitt or Walker needs to play NBs, probably Walker as, outside of last night, Everitt has been performing and hitting the scoreboard having kicked 5 goals the previous two weeks. If they hit the scoreboard they best stay in the team no matter what we think of them. Jaksch and Jones as the key forwards, Wood and Gorringe rucking, Rowe back to defence.

Not really. Gorringe lacks the physical intent to play as a ruckman. We went into the game with a plan to tie Goldstein up at the stoppages around the ground which he did OK but he needed to be more physical at the centre bounces. At least he could have jumped into Goldstein to make him pay a price physically but he didn't even do that.
Our problem is Cam Wood isn't a good centre bounce ruckman either. He's more value at getting clearances once the ball hits the ground. We needed someone with some physical intent. Someone who would get his knees into Goldsteins ribs so his focus wasn't purely on putting the ball on a 5 cent piece. If you were Gorringe and fighting for a spot on an AFL list, wouldn't you do that instead of meekly conceding every contest? I'm not writing the bloke off completely but he needs to show more to keep his spot in the team IMHO.

Just watched the presser.

i don't think he was all that happy with Gorringe. Add that to what Barker said at half time and Mr Gorringe will be getting some blunt feedback.
