Unfortunately I don't think he'd come willingly.

We need to find an alternative to Ed
Hughesy?
Andy Maher?

Nope.....we're [REDACTED]!

That idea has resonated with me. Why not?

Punt Rd seems a more sensible idea for a third stadium than Princes Park. More accessible.

you dont want another afl stadium anywhere near the MCG precinct. Traffic problems when matches clash. Not to mention the Punt Road area was cut into by Vic Roads some years back, would be impossible to redo without expanding the footprint.

But guys, it's agile and innovative because there's no additional costs aside from expanding and updating the stadium!!

If that can be taken seriously, we need to flog the shit out of a Princes Park proposal for the exact same reasons. Get the councils that cover Brunswick, Fitzroy, Carlton and Flemington involved as well because they all stand to get extra foot traffic after games because of it.

Exactly what I have said before Jimmae. Get all the governments to support PP upgrade with additional parkland proposals involved. Then utilise the northern region area to support its new northern sports predict surrounding PP. Then waltz into AFL head quarters and walk away smiling with a big fu to Carlton Mike and his cronies.....

Exactly, thats why Richmond moved to the MCG, back in 1965/66.

They took quite a bit of it to widen Punt Road.

If there is going to be a third AFL stadium in Melbourne, it's going to be in the inner city and its going to be no bigger than 35,000.

I think you're confusing who and what are preventing such proposals from getting off the ground.

Notice how a Tassie team is slowly moving forward?

We flagged that we would be interested in re-developing Princes Park well before Eddie said boo.

Discretion at the exploratory/early planning stages is generally how you conduct this kind of business.

Not to mention soccer/league game at AAMI park, concert at RLA, function at Hisense Arena...

Another stadium around the MCG precinct is fairy land stuff :screwy:

They are going to build a new station out PP way anyway because of new Peter Mac location...ideal really.
I think we are in the Box seats.
Run shuttle buses from new station..with fast bus lane priority into the park..plus the trams..plus mich bigger car park..
And Jezza is our uncle.

I can see some logic in both proposals- Assuming both come with a similar cost to run profiles.
But, that would not be the case, the construction cost blow outs over the past 20 years would see a massive increase in debt for the richmond proposal. That cost would have to be passed on to the consumer or taxpayer (could be justified to win an olympics bid). Hardly fair given the debt we are still carrying if the later is the case. That being said-

Richmond is ideally located to public transport etc and fits in with the sporting precinct. But short of an olympics in melbourne , what are the " advantages" of having so many stadiums clustered together? I can see disadvantages too, in the case of an olympics event- can you imagine the traffic chaos with so many stadiums running at once? Surely decentralising a little bit would help with this , rather than add to it? On the other hand , that chaos would exist anyway over the two weeks of an olympics so perhaps a bit more wouldnt be felt [how would melbourne function without punt road flowing]

Whether we should be advanced in our negotiations with plans and flashy pics is to take the view that these things should take priority over football issues- like drafting , player development, memberships etc.
