Count down the top 25 in that group, top to bottom. Stops at Armfield and it includes Jack Silvagni who probably won't play next year.
Leaves us pretty thin as far as depth is concerned for next year unless some of the speculatives get a guernsey.

Good post.

I hope Sumner gets over his injuries. His highlights look super impressive. Would be an absolute steal if he can rediscover his best work.

Two main scenarios look likely for next year:
1) we are as bad as we were this year and finish last. This would make us eligible for a compensation pick giving us 3 x top 20 picks next year.

2) we have a St Kilda 2015 type year. Very competitive, unexpected wins and have pick 5 + 23.
I wonder if we could trade one more pick into the first round. I wonder what that would be.

That would take our future core to 15 which looks very solid.

Cripps is on the other list, just his name...over and over and over....

I've updated with his correct title.

Good post. Just add some Whiley.

Agree it looks thin if injuries hit, but most lists are like that. Would hope we've sorted out a lot of the avoidable absences from previous years.

I expect Kerridge, Phillips/Gorringe and Lamb to play a fair bit this year. Unfortunately that list shows that if even a few injuries hit we'll be seeing more than we'd like from the guys in the bottom group (although I'd have Smih in the "speculative" group).

That future core group has 9 speculative players.

How are we going to be worse than last year?
All of the players we've lost played poorly last year, group will be more united, Gibbs will play, fingers crossed Jamison, Walker & Kruse are uninjured.

How do we go backwards?

explain.

Which clubs will we overtake next year?

I think we might overtake Essendon* and Brisbane - can't see us finishing ahead of anyone else however.

I would consider the season a resounding success if our new recruits prove their worth and finish above Essendon*. Even if we end up with Pick#2.

No chance we will be as worse next year. Mid table easily achievable.

From what I have seen of training 3 things will have a bearing on how far we can go;

Kicking efficiency,
Speed of ball movement,
Team structure and communication.

I'm guessing we'll not have a similar exodus as we did this year, so I'll be curious to see what our trading & draft strategies will be for 2016.

I reckon Kerridge and Phillips should be in the depth group, while Smith might work his way into the speculative group if the training reports are anything to go by.

Agree, we have turned over a lot of players in the last 2-3 years so there has to be some sort of stability.
It would be good to be in a position that we don't have to delist too many players or have players wanting out.
