Lets get the knives out and get in early with the sakcings/delistings! Who should make way?

Word has it that we are after 2 x 700k players at the end of the year - who could they be?

Who and should we target for FA?

Who is coming out of contract and need to sign up ASAP?

Who should we only sign up after the season has finished?

Who should we trade?

Who will retire?

Hendo is the priority, Kruezer is also a free agent.
Others include Carrots, Judd, Warnock.
Not sure about the contract status of Docherty and Everitt. Not as bad as last year in terms of big name players and not as many.

Clubs will be circling.

Some interesting observations in this year's Champion Data Prospectus (worth buying)

Quote:
With seven elevated rookie - the equal second most in the competition - it leaves only 17 players currently listed via the NAB AFL Draft - ranked 17th and the least of the non expansion clubs. Compare that to Geelong who have 30, it shows a totally different recruiting philosophy

Quote:
Carlton has 19 players under the age of 25 - the fewest in the competition. However, the six under 25s who have played at another club previously is the most in the competition

..carrots will be struggling to play man this year.. ..knockers will be gifted prime ruck again, and after some early games where we think he has improved, we will sign him up again.. ..this is what we're planning and training for now..

At the moment those playing for their career:

Warnock (Unless a miracle occurs. Done.)
Armfield (Unless a miracle occurs. Done.)
Ellard (Unless a miracle occurs. Done.)

Watson (If he can't find a place up forward he's done)
Johnson (If he can't find a place up forward he's done)
Holman (If he can't find a place in the midfield he's done)

Walker (If can't get body right might be time to retire)
Carrazzo (If can't get body right might be time to retire)

Agree ... except for Walker and Carrots ... still a lot to offer. Plenty of time for Walker. Carrots was just about BOG against Collingwood. Reckon he will be fine.

Anyway ... the Madhouse will probably keep them all ... he is such an astute judge of talent.

I can see Armfield getting a one year deal, but agree on the rest. Walker should be safe, and Carrots will probably hang up the boots unless he's certain he can help us push deep into the finals in 2016.

Giles is a chance to be discarded as well. In terms of the rookies it's going to be tough if there's still a 2-year minimum for interstate rookies though I suspect this has been changed. If so, Walsh is an early candidate to be discarded, while you can see Sheehan and Wood being good chances for elevation.

I think Byrne, Gowers and Fields will be retained.

Looking over it more, I think you're right about Armfield: he will go. Then it's down to one of Giles, Graham, Carrazzo and Judd to make way for us to have our minimum three picks, assuming we retain Wood.

That said if we don't retain Wood, we're probably going to trade for a ruck, so it's a moot point.

I hope that Walker and Carrots will be around next year too. Just saying if their bodies don't hold up and they miss significant chunks of the year again they may go.

White's a chance too I suppose, but he's got years and output on his side.

If we're shit this year or they miss half the season through injury, Judd and Carrots will happily retire.
