The worst part is that the next one feels another 2 decades away.

The fact that it's taken till 10.30pm on the day of the 20th anniversary of this speaks volumes of how far our enthusiasm and passion has waned for this club.

To be honest I am very much over all this anniversary stuff. Time the club starting making some new history we can be proud of. Onward and upward!

I'm not sure what's worse, that another 10 years has flown by, or that that 10 years has pretty much been documented here on TC.

Don't care really.

Im more focused on the next one. We lived in the past for way too long.

When I was 17 it was a very good year. It was a very good year. And then we got shit. And we haven't beaten Hawthorn since Youtube was a thing. @#$%&! this joint.

I love a celebration.

Winning flags is all about celebration.

Flags are special like birthdays. They are celebrated on the anniversary every anniversary.

Why wouldn't you? Perhaps you don't like to have an excuse to celebrate. If so, I suggest you review your values.

There is nothing wrong reminding the world let alone yourself, your family and friends of our achievements.

My family is celebrating today with a visit of a yesteryear great...you beauty. Why you may ask? Because he is worth celebrating: he is a GF hero.

My 11yo was adamant we visit the great one and everything great about Carlton and it's not wooden spoons.

Smell the roses. Most enjoyable.

Fully agree Taff. Though I might have missed it, but I didn't see anyone reminiscing about 1999 this year. That's a massive step forward. I've always found it very Collingwood like to celebrate an ultimately unsuccessful year

So was I, in the Ponsford stand on the pocket Spalding smothered and goaled. I was 14. It's the only flag I was old enough to understand, attend and remember. I'm now 34 and I dare say if I'm lucky enough to live to be 44 or even 54 I'm not sure I'll ever see another flag.

I was there too! Wasn't as old as you two though.

Have to say I was happier in 1999 though.

I was so thrilled that day I asked my then girlfriend to marry me.

20 years later I have two kids - but they're with someone completely different. That first marriage ended in divorce a few years later.

Jubilation can make you do stupid things. At least today's generation of Carlton supporters are at no risk of that.....
