Forget about tactics and training, Pagans greatest strength is the ability to see what we needed and what we had. Then in 2 seasons go out and get it despite the restrictions placed by a vindictive AFL.

If he can improve our list so much in the last 2 years, what is he going to able to do going forward? One thing is for sure, never again will we be allowed to rest on our recruitment laurels. Pagans emphasis on pace and toughness will always result in us being super competitive starting NOW.

Thanks Denis, we now have a team of youngsters without a Dud amongst them (well maybe one). I look forward to seeing them mature into premiership winning material that will make us proud.

Do you mean 2 out of 11 I mentioned ie T-bird and Carraz.

T-Brid was overlooked by all the rest of the recruiters as well, just like Eddie Betts was this year and Carrazz went to the Cats as a rookie.

I'm pretty sure he was drafted originally, delisted, then given a second chance on the rookie list.

Anyway, I can't see how it makes a difference which draft the players were picked up in. The decisions were still made by the same people.

Former recruiting manager Shane O'Sullivan would have enjoyed Saturday night, too. Like long-serving former football manager Colin Kinnear, he was lucky to survive Collins' arrival. Both remain at Carlton in different roles.
But it was O'Sullivan who assembled the bulk of this group. From Camporeale way back in 1994 to Fevola and Ian Prendergast in '98, Ryan Houlihan (draft pick No. 73 in '99) to Luke Livingston, Justin Davies and Andrew Walker in the past five years.
O'Sullivan deserves to be enjoying the Carlton renaissance as much as anyone.

I have been wrapped for Denis But

and I mean this in the nicest possible way

Denis is only the coach of the greatest AFL club in the land.

I do not want us to become like Sheedysville and think the coach is the b all and end all of this club. He is one bloke. Important and replaceable - that's something Carlton has always understood and must retain!

Our ability (of which Denis has been a huge part) to get back on track,
to put the shite behind us and regroup and reorganize and reenergize has been absolutely amazing!
