I like the idea of just appointing him as a member of staff. Contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on anyway.
Hopefully he's around for a long time which will mean he's done a good job.
Good luck Brendon!

Watched the presser. Hard not to be ultra impressed.

Welcome to Carlton Brendon. I hope you can play a pivotal role in the true rebirth of our club.

Think he said that was different circumstances...

From Mick Shithouse to The Bolta... One end of the spectrum to the other in press conferences.

Good presser. Spoke well but obviously very nervous and trying to contain excitement.

Like the way he is about people and process. Very important and he obviously understands the reasoning.

Interested in his comments about list. Major focus and he and SOS will be having some long discussions. Got the impression that some players are under notice for the next two weeks.

Nice to see some real positivity.

Brendon Bolton will leave Hawthorn at the end of the week to begin his job with Carlton.

Was just about to come in to say I'd be happy to let him finish his Hawthorn tenure first, but alright!

I would be curious to know who made the final call though, and unlike most I hope that the Hawks had a part in it. Last thing we'd need is to be seen as greedily snatching one of their guys given their current circumstances.

Who gives a toss what was arranged. I couldn't give two hoots if the hawks are upset. If he wants to make the best of his opportunity at CFC, he can't wait until the 2nd week in October to start working at our club.

Hehe Goltz. WTG. By the way, I wouldn't try out for a career as a hostage negotiator if I were you.

BB used the word "leadership density" - have to agree that is much better than dense leaders.

Impressive stuff.

A little too much corporate speak for me personally but i can see that being handy in such a role.

Blues breaking the mould with no contract.

Corporate speak??

Happy in that:

1. Process was executed and completed
2. New age, young coach outside the current club environment was installed

Can't ask for anything more, so let's hope we got it right.

I hope he doesn't trade Menzel unless it's a very good deal. I think he can play a big part and any pick would be highly speculative - Yarran yes, Hendo - certainly, but we've already got a top 2 plus some other good prospects and maybe a free agent/Carlisle.

That will get us well and truly on our way when players return from injury.

Our first attempt at being an innovative club for a long, long, time.
No contract, a member of staff

I wouldn't of waited for someone to act first before firing at martin place.

He can't do both roles. Wouldn't be fair to the Hawks to have him distracted by CFC and vice versa. Good decision.
