I don't think BB could do that many - a bowl of 6 would be bigger than him.

Doesn't that just mean that the current players attended the 1987 Premiership luncheon?

Possibly but the club has implemented a heap of similar initiatives. The Dads and Dudes days where the fathers train or spend a day at the club with the players. Similar functions for the Mums and players.
The ex players are far more involved with the club than they were in previous years.

Agreed on that.
Bolton has reconnected the team to The Blues culture, starting with himself.. You would think listening to him that he's been a Carlton man his whole life.
As opposed to our last coach, who created a military state with himself as leader for life.

Reconnecting to our past players is a positive reinforcement. We're a prominent brand with a rich and illustrious history.
Bolton is determined to rebuild the passion.
The young lads should be very proud and honored to wear the Jumper. Some of those numbers are so so very special.

AFL 2017 Training - Hawthorn 090617

Cameron Bruce is moving to Carlton to join Brendon Bolton's coaching team

Match preview: Sydney v Carlton

CARLTON has landed an off-field coup, with Hawthorn assistant Cameron Bruce joining Brendon Bolton's panel after the departure of experienced coaching director Neil Craig.

Bruce has been part of Alastair Clarkson's coaching team for the past five years and worked alongside Bolton from 2013-15.

The 37-year-old, who spent three years in charge of midfield and stoppages before moving to the backline in 2017, has told the players of his decision.

AFL.com.au understands the Hawks have already lined up a potential replacement in former West Coast captain Darren Glass.

Clarkson's coaching team has experienced significant turnover in the past five years, with the club losing football manager Chris Fagan (2016), Bolton (2015), Luke Beveridge (2014) and Adam Simpson (2013) to senior coaching positions.

Bolton: We're on right path

Carlton Football Club has secured the services of highly regarded coach Cameron Bruce, who will join the Blues as a senior assistant coach.

Since retiring from AFL in 2012, Bruce has served as an assistant coach under Alastair Clarkson at Hawthorn. The 37-year-old enjoyed a decorated career as a player that spanned 234 games from 2000-2012 at Melbourne and Hawthorn, before embarking on a coaching career.

Bruce was appointed as a development coach with the Hawks in 2013, before being promoted to an assistant coach role later that year. He worked alongside current Blues senior coach Brendon Bolton at Hawthorn from 2013 – 2015 and this year has worked closely with the Hawks’ defensive line.

Bruce will join the Blues’ current crop of assistant coaches including John Barker, Dale Amos, Tim Clarke and Shane Watson. Head of Football Andrew McKay said Bruce would be a valuable addition to Carlton’s coaching ranks.

“Cameron has impressive credentials and his playing experience and knowledge of the modern game will be a terrific asset for our young playing group,” McKay said.

“As we broaden our coaching panel, Cameron will be working closely with Brendon and our line coaches around strategy and analytics.

“As we continue to grow and build our football program, Cameron will be a wonderful addition to our skilled coaching panel. We look forward to welcoming him to the Club for the start of the upcoming pre-season campaign.”

Bruce will commence his role with the Blues for the start of the upcoming pre-season campaign.

CAMERON BRUCE BIO:

224 games for Melbourne

10 games for Hawthorn

211 career goals

2000 AFL Rising Star Nominee

2008 Melbourne FC Best and Fairest winner

Looks like he was spot on.

Without knowing too much about Bruce he had a good long career as a player and has served as an assistant for five years under the greatest coach of the modern era so I'm pretty pleased with it.
