Don't shoot the messenger. He makes the points that another poster was making in the post-match thread, and that is... "We need help!" http://www.sen.com.au/news/07-15/patric ... ry-carlton |

Spot on. We are the worst club in every aspect. Walls has come out and said Brisbane need a priority pick and help. What is wrong with that man ? Carlton are way worse. |

Notwithstanding that we are in a mess, that's a pretty poor rant from Smith. At best he's a few weeks late and at worst he's months late with critique. Tell us something we don't know. ![]() |

There has been a massive over-reaction to Friday night. Carlton are currently, for a variety of reasons, an ordinary side. Everybody knows that. Friday night was about how good Hawthorn are, not how bad we are. |

He's wrong to (sort of) defend Malthouse - the reason our list is so shit is because he got rid of everyone who could kick a goal and brought in his permacrocked mate and a bunch of utter spuds. |

I have one question. Do y'all think we're a bit ordinary, or are we very bloody ordinary? Sorry, one more question. Are we average? |

The team we have playing on the field is about 100% better than the people running the club into the ground. |

Make no mistake, Hawthorn is a very good football side. Very good. |

We are terribly ordinary because list development, player retention, drafting, development, and overall long term strategy has been very below par. |

First bad performance since JB took over and he takes a cheap shot. Agree about his point re. Board the taking responsibility, but he wraps it up in a silly argument Blues2005 wrote: There has been a massive over-reaction to Friday night. Up until Friday night, most people were full of praise for how JB had gone about things, and how we ve unearthed some quality kids in Cripps, Doc, Graham etc. One bad loss, and all of a sudden, we need AFL assistance. Come off it lol |

Refer to BV post yesterday. In round 1 Hawthorn had 38 scoring shots and kicked 17.21. On Friday night they also had 38 scoring shots and kicked 27.11. Perhaps if we'd kicked long to the boundary line where the contest can be spoiled and a stoppage may occur they would've only had about 30 scoring shots. Instead we attempted a different game style and served up a multitude of goals inside 30m. That and there were some awesome kicks for goal from on or outside 50m. Hawthorn have goalkickers, heaps of them. They've hardly had less than 30 scoring shots a game in the past couple of months. We've got few goalkickers, very few. No real key forwards and no real small forwards. We can score well when we can run through the middle but that's not going to happen against the likes of Hawthorn with our current personnel, even though we tried it. |

Carlton supporters blast ordinary Pat Smith......Yeah he was sort of right, but really, captain obvious. The side that flogged us beat the Swans by 90. We were horrible. totally inexperienced. Let's judge the next few weeks. Smith and KB were also talking up MM and making out that Carlton did the wrong thing by him, conveniently forgetting that Mick went out of his way to get sacked by constantly whinging about a contract extensive for the past year and deliberately misrepresenting internal discussions at the club. We are a pretty soft target, but PA and the Sts and the Dogs have shown things can change reasonably quickly. If we could draft quality like McRae Stringer and Bont into the side we start seeing some hope. Having said that we were horrible Friday and JBs deathly slow chip chip chip across the defensive 5o did no-one any favours. |

Kev and Pat love Malty. They reckon he should coach Adelaide now. Could be a conspiracy to help Tiggers. ![]() stoopid old gits. ![]() ![]() |

That's a 151 year old record....worst ever, no team should lose by that much. Even Pago didn't get beaten by that much at Carlton....sheesh And in the captains 200th |

People are saying "a thrashing was expected", "we had X number of players under 50 games", "we were without such and such", "Hawthorn are the benchmark" etc. But this wasn't just another thrashing we're all so used to, but THE WORST LOSS IN CARLTON'S HISTORY. How people can even try to begin rationalising this as they would a standard 10-12 goal loss is baffling to me. And if people are going a bit dramatic in their reactions I can't see a better time for it! |

Journo's get paid to "exaggerate" their opinions in order to get noticed. He just picked the easiest target from the weekend....... |

And if people are going a bit dramatic in their reactions I can't see a better time for it! It was also one of the worst (based on age/experience/general lack of quality) teams in Carlton's history, against one of the best, if not the best, in Hawthorn's. On top of this, you had Carlton coming back from Perth on a six-day break against a Hawthorn team that was coming off two smashings of fellow top-four sides. It was a recipe for disaster and that's exactly how things turned out. If this loss had come against a middle-of-the-road side then I would understand the hysteria. Instead, it came against one of the best sides we've seen, one that barring injury/unforeseen circumstances will surely win its third Premiership in a row. You can't simply dismiss the circumstances. |
