It was something special to see last night. A game plan that has probably taken a little under two years to master and understand, seems to have finally clicked with everyone. The game plan is predictable, yes, but that is the beauty of it all. Each player knows what the other will do/be next. Think it may have been in the second quarter but our forward line was Pagan's Paddock to a tee. Fevola was our Longmire. Sitting back in the square a good 20-30 metres away from Lance, the game plans version of Carey. In front of Lance the fleet of flankers buzzing around Lance the like a horde of flys would buzz around a piece of you know what. In amongst the hordes was Digby. Insurance if you will. If Lance and Fev got caught out on the deliver, Diggers is there as our last line and is capable of taking the mark. Really was nice to see the game plan in full flight last night and more than capable of knocking back the Flood. |

Agree PJ. They are playing to a team plan. It's taken a little while, but they now have confidence in each other and know what their part is. They run in numbers, tackle in numbers and support in numbers. I did like Diggers' game as well. How was the cameo by ADL? Built up well, one-grab mark. Surely a real, long term aoption up forward with Lance and Fev?! |

Archie played alright last night. It was mentioned in another thread that if Wayne could give him some advice in regards to pack marking, he could easily take 10+ marks a game. He just seems to launch himself above everyone else in the packs. Very Inspector Gadget like. |

The biggest difference between the dogs and us last night was the ball movement forward. The dogs handballed at every opportunity which allowed us to flood back. DOesn't Eade recognise that quick movement of the pill is the way to score goals......we forced them to kick wide into the pockets. When we take it out of the defence, we dont muck around with it........no handballing to players under pressure, just kick it to a one on one contest where our forwards have a great chance of taking a mark. |

Dennis won the mind games easily.Lulled Eade into a false sense of security luring into the belief that it was eade who had the upper hand with the flood.But Dennis beat him at his own game.Not only did we flood,i think we super flooded.No way was Eade expecting this and seemed unusually flustered.Seemed rattled right from the start and was on the back foot all night..........On a different note,well done Libba,Mitch and Elshaug.Centre breaks have been woeful.Just kept the same blokes in there and hoping it would come good.The guys got on the front foot and rotated the mix,withMcGrath and Carrots and even Simmo in there at certain stages.They were prepared to try something new and were rewarded.Even if it didnt work,they still had a go. |

Hey PJ, just to jump off track but was that MarciBlue with you on TV celebrating a goal? Back to the paddock, it was sensational, Lappin fullfilling the Winny Abraham role he was so good at. |

I thought we flooded well and beat the Bullies at the own game...we got possession and then switched to the weak side and ran the ball down the ground often uncontested. The skill level was excellent...good Carlton teams kick well and find their targets everytime...thats what this team did. Not since our last flag have I seen a blues team kick the ball so well...handpasses were constructive but not overdone unlike the Bullies who over did it and lost the footy many times.. Andrew Carazzo has helped our defense.....not a defensive player totallyand likes to run and create from the backpocket, gets the overlap happening and breaks up the play....we may get a few goals get kicked on him(Cooney missed a couple ) but I think his attacking value is worth more.... |

Pagan completely out-coached Eade in the first quarter. All over after that. Eade appeared very one dimensional. After their initial plan - ie the one that worked last week - feel in a hole, he just had nowhere to go. Denis is a god. |
