Rob's Rant...... I am DONE!!! There is nothing new I can add so all I can do is offer my suggested way out of this mess. There is only 1 possible solution that i can see and involves several painful steps: 1. The board come out and sack Malthouse immediately or tell him publicly he will NOT be reappointed next year and thus let him resign now. He has clearly lost the players, in over 30 years of watching my beloved Blues I have never seen them so devoid of passion, soul and pride. 2. The board to resign on mass. - The board has dragged us into this mess and must take responsibility - Logiudice, Jeanne Pratt, Ruffy Geminder, Ahmed Fahour, Zac Fried, Greg Lee, Adrian Gleeson, Luke Sayers, Marcus Clarke, Craig Mathieson, 3. Caretaker board consisting of 6 members to be appointed only 2 members can be from pre-existing board. Ask AFL for assistance in setting up interim board selection. The board must consist of people who not only have business acumen but also have a deep understanding of the machinations of a football club and have the best interests of the club at heart not just deep pockets and a large ego like many of current board. 4. Appoint an interim coach until end of year - the coach is instructed to put 100% emphasis on on playing kids and developing kids for the future, no emphasis whatsoever on short term success. Give games to Cripps, Menzel, Jaksch, Graham, Whiley, Holman, Buckley, DVR, Dick, Smith, Foster, Fields, Johnson, Byrne, etc... We can't play them all at once in the same team but we can give them several games each to get an idea of their capabilities, Lets see what they have got, those that aren't going to make it can be moved on at end of the year (obviously we give them time to develop) 5. Establish a panel to look for next coach - A young coach to be given a 4 year deal. A coach from a successful program that has been involved in player development - Dew, Bolton, Tudor, Lappin, someone else etc... I don't know who should coach us but that is the job for the panel. 6. SOS as list manager and his team to be given carte blanche to manage our list - trade players, delist players and recruiting. - Emphasis on accumulating early draft picks and use these picks on elite skills particularly inside mids and KPPS Suggested moves: Delist (or Trade): Armfield, Ellard, Carrazzo, Judd (retire), Daisy, Watson, Warnock, White, Jones, Everitt, Tutt? Trade at least 2 of our "bigger names" : Yarran, Walker, Gibbs, Touhy, Jamo, - All trades to try and gain early draft picks (will need to combine picks e.g.. Yarran and our second round pick 19 for a top 10 pick etc.. - We need to be aggressive, creative and bold. In reality every player is on the table for the right deal. 7. Club via CEO (Trigg) to acknowledge all their errors and clearly spell out plan forward including emphasis on playing kids until 2016 season. Club to explain to members the direction of the club and make it crystal clear they are committed to a rebuild with no Quick fixes. Apologize to members and plead with them to stay on board for the journey 8. Full independent review of all aspects of the club to start ASAP- Coaching, Match committee, recruiting, development, marketing, media, fitness and conditioning, medical team etc... This should be completed before the end of the regular season 9. Immediate ban on all man-buns, pony tails, hipster facial hair, crappy tattoos etc.. Basically this is like starting a brand new club from the top down. If this fails all I can suggest is that perhaps like all living things perhaps this once great club has reached its twigh-light years and sadly maybe the end is near........ i hope this is not the case! Am I being hysterical? Possibly. Am I being realistic? Definitely |

Sadly I can't see any of the above happening. Maybe, just maybe when it is spelled out to supporters, not this time around, but say 4 seasons future, when (whoever the new coach is) doesn't produce results, and we find ourselves in the exact same position, and the club is on the verge of extinction, maybe then the board will be axed due to incompetence, and we'll get the full club rebuild we need. But right now, I can't see a single board member going anywhere unfortunately. There'll be the usual BS spiel by the club soon enough. Malthouse will be gone and at the very least satisfy those calling for action. It will also give the board 3 / 4 years of breathing space. Personally I think the exodus has begun in earnest, as far as the supporter is concerned. Rebuild or not, I think the damage has been done, 20 years passed, 3 coaches, bottom of the ladder, and pretty much zero to be excited about. Ask yourself this: When you go to the footy and see the majority of supporters wearing the navy blue, who's number are they wearing? From my observations its number 5 - Chris Judd. Besides the great man himself, there's not a lot to be excited about. And he's done after this season. I remember the so called dark days (what's this time around? dark days v2) even though we were doing abysmally many supporters still came to watch the Fevola Show. We don't even have a bloody forward line these days. So who's the draw-card for the kids and the fans once Judd retires? Captain Carlton??? I predict the same old BS spiel from the club yet again. Malthouse will be gone and we'll be sold a whole bunch of fluff for the next 3 years minimum. We may even improve a little in that time, but finals, premierships? ![]() |

We should hold a Mass Protest outside Princess Park (screw this IKON park business). Imagine 40,000 people demanding change! |

Rob totally agree. If this were a business the board would of been gone long ago. They lack action and leadership. Blind freddy can see the problems but the board seem to be the only ones not doing anything. Where is the leadership? |

They are doing something they're doing a heap of spade work to dig the grave and shit the club into. How was that 150th birthday party boys? Couldn't get much worse? Well they should invite us along to the 151st. |

We need to follow the approach St Kilda are taking - do we have the courage and patience to do this? I doubt it. |

I live in an inner South Eastern suburb. I was on Glenferrie Road over the weekend (Malvern end) and saw a kid wearing a Bulldogs guernsey with Tom Boyd's number on his back. A kid in a Bulldogs jumper. In Malvern. The end is neigh. |

Personally believe people should just boycott the club. Do not contribute.. They will listen to us when they're forced. Because they have no choice. They're a rabble and they're never going to be any good.. To the tune by the crystals |

Humpers wrote: We need to follow the approach St Kilda are taking - do we have the courage and patience to do this? I doubt it. We have had that approach since 2013 draft. Only draft pick we sacrificed was pick 46 for Jones Docherty was the pick with the Hampson swap and he was 20 anyway Everitt and 39(giles) for pick 31 2013 draft the previous administration gave hacks multi year contracts so we only had 3 picks. The mass of our supporters get hypnotised by a combination of Herald Sun Propaganda and Trigg & La Giudace's pushing the blam onto the coach Who went to the board in October 2013 and told them the list needed turning over? - Mick Malthouse Who turned over 25 players?- Mick Malthouse The rebuild strategy has been apprehended by Trigg after Malthouse had commenced its implimentation Malthouse and I would add Trigg and the club have the patience. The supporters, who when surveyed demand no quick fixes, then turn on the club and coach based on immediate win loss ratios Next year we will have a new coach and we will be cheering because he is likely to produce half a dozen wins on the back of smith, cripps, buckley, graham, bokeheurst, sheehan, byrnes increased fitness and experience. The assessment of coaching performance at Carlton is grounded in subjective perception and personal agenda rather than the reality of the playing list's capacity and objective reasoning |
